The stretch of road on either side of Devil's Punchbowl used to have a sign that read "all passengers walk, 14 deaths beyond this point". Latest victims were back in early 2000 when a family from Kansas went over the edge in a Jeep, killing three of the four.

It is the only scary part of the road, but it is scary. I'm glad I did it, but I don't have a need to do it again. 😁

Think I'll take County Road 12 from Crested Butte to the Chrystal Mill via Paonia Res. & Marble

It's probably easier, but a longer route. Point is, just getting there. Worth seeing regardless how you get there.

@@DannyFyffe My FJC and I could make it but I'll be pulling a small pop-up camper behind it. Thanks for the video. Use these kinds of videos to plan my next summer trip out.

Just watched the second part of this and like you would have hesitated at that one spot for sure. What would have stopped me was the long way to back down. What would have moved me forward was seeing other wheelers had crossed and a friendly spotter like you had.
@DannyFyffe5 жыл бұрын
If it wasn't for that spotter, I don't know what I would have done. Devil's Punchbowl is a scary thing in that one spot. Glad you liked the videos and I do hope they help you out in your offroad plans. It is why I make them.

May I ask what road this is in the beginning?

That is lead King Basin.

That's what I call pushing a full sized truck to the limit. No way my wife and I could make it with our bad backs, but thanks for the ride. I've seen several videos of Devils Punchbowl, but even if our backs were in good shape, I do not think I could stand/make it with my wife hollering "GET OVER'>
@DannyFyffe6 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha. I understand about the hollering wife. I don't have one, but the guy in the Tundra had a hard way to go. ;-)

silly question, but is that a one way trail? I would die if someone in a car came from the other direction.... what to do then? lol
@DannyFyffe6 жыл бұрын
No, it is a 2 way and we did have some motorcycles come at us. If a vehicle comes, someone is doing a lot of backing up.
@Politically-incorrect-brian6 жыл бұрын
i had something like this happen to me on a trail near the sand dunes. I have a tacoma and I had to back up for a while before I could find a spot to shove the truck in some bushes. It was still an awesome experience, but I can't imagine backing up in such a narrow trail w a cliff next to you! anyway, awesome video!
@DannyFyffe6 жыл бұрын
You must be talking about Medano Pass. I have done it several times. It has actually been widened and is a very easy trail these days. So glad you liked this one. I have a ton more you can watch. and subscribe if you haven't. Thanks. ;-)

Great video. The music is annoying and unnecessary. Drives people away from otherwise great videos. How about just a little voice-over narration?
@DannyFyffe5 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video. As a content creator of 7 years now, I hear it both ways. Some say without the music, they won't watch. Others, like you, say you don't like the music. So it is obvious I can't win the argument as it is up to personal taste. So if you were told by a few that they like the music and several others said they don't, how would you handle it? I don't know what to do as I cannot win either way.
@dwighthapeman65905 жыл бұрын
Danny Fyffe ... you did win. The video is great. I understand the dilemma. At least you didn’t use death metal music. I’ll keep watching either way.
@DannyFyffe5 жыл бұрын
@@dwighthapeman6590 I certainly appreciate your continued support. I am not into any metal music so I will certainly never use that. ;-) I really do get comments where some say because you use music, I will not watch you any longer. Others say because you did not use music I won't watch any longer. All I can say is, ok. I have learned I can't please everyone so I got to please myself. ;-)
