Epic band! Ron Jarzombek is the creative genius of them, possibly the most insane metal guitarist going because of how absurdly unique his approach to composition within the genre is. The video you didn't react to set to the bugs is what he wrote this to, it's from the Peter Jackson King Kong film. Basically the entire song is structured to the visuals of that scene as well as the editing, which when you factor in a drummer keeping time results in all manner of crazy time signature changes, tempo shifts and chaotic playing. Can't really go wrong with any of their tunes, but I would say for their next song do 'Bleeding in the Brain'. It's all instrumental. Ron is a beast!

I think most, if not all songs on this album (The Animation Of Entomology), are done to accompany some sort of scene in a film. At least 'Ingesting Blattaria', 'Cretaceous Chasm' and 'Vermicular Asphyxiation' are done so.This follows in the same vein as Spastic Ink's 'A Wild Hare' which is done to a scene in Walt D's 'Bambi'. These are the ones I know of, if anyone know others please include them. While these songs are certainly not easy listening, the composition and execution from Ron Jarzombek and gang are admirable in their own right.

Ive spoken to Ron recently and there is a third Blotted Science album in the works currently, but is slow going as everyone has other stuff going on.

Ron Jarzombek is an incredible guitarist. lml Listen to Spastic Ink where he plays with her brother, Bobby Jarzombek. The incredible drummer. The videoclip of "Cretaceous chasm" is adapted to the King Kong film in the scene where the attack of insects is. look at it.

Great reaction! But your description of it being chaotic is not correct. It is very well composed, with very specific parts that each band member has to play correctly, with all the correct time and tempo changes. It was composed using a modified implementation of Arnold Schoenberg's 12 tone method.

Thanks guys, shame you couldn't watch the video though. As good as the song is on its own seeing it synced up with the video is what makes it next level. This is one of the few bands we can bond over since I primarily listen to extreme metal while he mostly listens to Fusion.
