I'm glad that you actually put shaving cream on the client's neck before using a razor on it (and it looks like you even put some sort of cream on his neck when you're done). I remember my old barber used to never put any kind of shaving cream or gel before using a razor which resulted in razor burn in the back of my neck for a couple of days after the haircut everytime.
@whisperinghaircutsasmr Жыл бұрын
oh no 😅 I think its very individual and depends, every barber does a bit different, and maby it was just shaven against the grain in your case, or maby you have sensitive skin, and not everyones hair can handle that, I have put an alcohol free aftershave on the neck after ☺ I do prefer to finish it of with alcohol after tho 😅
@sundigest1121 Жыл бұрын
@@whisperinghaircutsasmr Maybe I do have sensitive skin but I'm not sure. I don't really feel like I do. I think that every barber should use some sort of lubricant before using a razor on their client just to be safe and ensure that their skin doesn't get irritated after the haircut. And when you don't use shaving cream you have to apply more pressure with the razor which makes things worse.
@whisperinghaircutsasmr Жыл бұрын
@@sundigest1121 water can also be used as lubricant for the shave, but I don't think you need more pressure if you use decent blades, neck hair is normally not as thick as beard hair ☺
@sundigest1121 Жыл бұрын
@@whisperinghaircutsasmr My old barber probably did use water (I'm not really sure it was at least 5 years ago) and my neck still burned after the cut. I probably just have sensitive skin :/ When I start going to barbers again I will probably just ask them to use shaving cream if they use a razor or just ask them to use trimmers.

Crew cut?
@whisperinghaircutsasmr Жыл бұрын
according to Wikipedia A crew cut is a type of haircut in which the upright hair on the top of the head is cut relatively short,[1] graduated in length from the longest hair that forms a short pomp (pompadour) at the front hairline to the shortest at the back of the crown so that in side profile, so the outline of the top hair approaches the horizontal.[2][3] Relative to the front view, and to varying degrees, the outline of the top hair can be arched or flattened at the short pomp front and rounded or flattened over the rest of the top to complement the front hairline, head shape, face shape and facial features.[2] The hair on the sides and back of the head is usually tapered short, semi-short, or medium.[3][4] A short crew cut is sometimes referred to as a butch, though with the exception of variant forms, a butch differs from a crew cut in that the top hair is cut a uniform short length.[5] A long crew cut can be referred to in the US as an ivy league crew cut or ivy league.[6][7] A crew cut where the hair on the top of the head is graduated in length from the front hairline to a chosen point on the mid to back part of the crown as a flat plane, of level, upward sloping or downward sloping inclination is known as a flat top crew cut or flattop.[8][9] The crew cut, flat top crew cut, butch cut and Ivy League haircut can be referred to as types of buzz cuts. These haircuts have become popular military-inspired styles for men who want a short and low-maintenance look.

How times have changed when I was a kid 1960s-70s a crew cut was basically a flat top.
@whisperinghaircutsasmr Жыл бұрын
flat top is more square on the sides and shorter on middle of the head if you look from the top and if you look from the front its flat, that didn't change much, its basically a square ☺ the front part of the crew cut a bit longer most of the time, like a mini pomp, or like a little bit that you can still style the front, but not always these days, I think these days its often like a buzz cut almost with a fade. in general is just not as artificially square, but yeah, similar haircuts when you think about it, on someone with a very square head shape it would look a lot like a flat top.

My advice to any Barber or anyone who wants to cut the hair in the back of his neck use a electric shaver , don't use the blade because if you use the blade the new hair will be thicker than before..
@whisperinghaircutsasmr Жыл бұрын
that is not true, but with a lot of people there is less irritation with electric shaver, the only way to make sure that the hair doesn't grow as thick or as fast is waxing, because you damage the root of the hair, if the root is not effected, the hair just grows back the same, regardless of what you use.
