Crewe Station & South Shed 1960's.

As a very young fireman at Willesden I booked on for a saturday evening spare turn. along with driver Jim Goodman we were given a job to work a special train from Watford Yard going to Gartcosh steel works. We were allocated 46115 to work to Crewe. The train was lightly loaded with a rake of steel carrying vehicles plus brake. That was the only time I worked on the mainl line with a Scot. I still remember the job. We took the loco onto Crewe South and had a sumptuous breakfast before travelling back home via Euston. It is great to see the two Scots working today. Rough riding sometimes.

As of today Crewe still sees local express trains as well as freight services they come to Crewe everyday even railtours come here everyday
