I draw the blueprints and get them through Building and Safety for my projects. The back and forth between with the plan checkers is so time consuming. You submit plans and then have to wait for them to come back with corrections and then back again. Those plan checkers are going to busy and a lot of down time for the plans to come back with their requested corrections. I do my blueprints because to pay some one else and wait would drive me insane.

In all that time only once did we have a power outage when a squirrel got into a ground-level utility box that services the neighborhood. Our t.v. cable is also supposed to be buried but Spectrum Cable is lousy at that and I can see the exposed cable running 150 ft down my fence line, over to the house and around the front. My home was built in 1978 in a town of 25,000 and all our utilities in my neighborhood are underground. We have had temperatures hit 30 deg. below zero and up to 104 deg. F in the summer. Our annual rainfall is 12 inches. I’ve lived in this house since 1983 and only one time did we have a power outage when a squirrel somehow got inside one of the utility boxes in the neighborhood. It’s a metal box a little bit bigger than an air conditioner. Wouldn’t it be nice if whatever utility company is servicing Pacific Palisades, would bury their utilities? I would think in the long run it would save the company money in manpower to continually replace electrical lines and power poles in storms and fires. Also, it would be a lot less dangerous for people battling fires and homeowners who want to go back into their neighborhoods to see the damage.

Why aren’t power lines buried? Is it because it’s an older area, or is it because of shifting fault lines? I live in MN, and our lines are buried except in the older cities…and rural areas. You’ve done a top notch job on your videos…I think I’ve seen over a dozen so far.
