Deon is right about his generation. All the great WRs had hall of fame QBs. So the perfect route + the perfect throw didn’t necessarily mean a completion. It could mean Deon high steps it for 60. Put him in today’s game and the evolution of WRs and I still think he locks down so hard that they won’t risk throwing it his way.

I had this same conversation with my son the other day. I told him the game was WAY tougher back then than now in ALL SPORTS. They could hit you anyway. They could chuck you within any yardage. There were no cut blocks. You had to be that guy. Today, a guy who is okay can be a first-round pick.

If you run a perfect route, and the QB throws a perfect pass, then it should be a completion 90% of the time. But if the ball is behind, or overthrown, or late, or the QB was hit when he threw it, or it was tipped at the line; then Deion had a chance at getting it because he was faster than everyone else. Jerry Rice's impact on the game is unrivaled to this day, he is the greatest NFL athlete to EVER play the game. Who else is going to play for 20 years and have over 22,000 receiving yards and over a thousand receptions?? Route running was immaculate, had great speed, footwork and agility and could catch everything thrown at him. No one is coming close to him anytime soon.

WRs didn't start gettin over 6'2" tall on avg til the early 2000s. Back then corners were 5'8" - 6'. Now both are looked down on if they're not a minimum 6ft. The game has changed big time. 💩 I see RBs turnin into fullbacks in size and mainly in the backfield for blocking and lucky if they get over 75yds per game.

Per my Anatomy professor, #1 mutation brought upon humans are misshapen feet and that is due to our shoes. Whenever we had to mess with our cadavers, all the feet were misshapen and that was because our cadavers came mostly from India. But the last thing you want to do is amputate your greater toe.
