Agree, that aggressive block was not one of our proudest moments - particularly with the inscrutably honest Adam Gilchrist out there, not succeeding in withdrawing the appeal.

Cricket has got to the stage that EVERY wicket should get reviewed by the 3rd umpire, then there can be no doubt. Especially when batsmen hit the ball & don't walk because the umpire doesn't raise the finger... Would of solved most of the issues in this video...

Indian fans: "SANDPAPER SANDPAPER" The same Indian fans when Dravid gets caught with lozenges: *silence* Bunch of hypocrites. Every time they bring it up, I'll be happy to bring up the lozenges. Two can play at that game. That's not even mentioning all the Indians who played roles in match fixing. Know the shame of your own ignorance before accusing others. No one likes a hypocrite.

Don't forget Tendulkar when he got caught using a bottle cap to scratch up the ball....
@iceymonster467518 күн бұрын
I mean, both acts are completely unforgiveable and rightfully were punished (though maybe not the correct amount of punishment), I do feel that sandpaper is kiiiiiinda worse than a lozenge.. Yes, potentially biased NZ cricket fan, but for fairness, I own our sh*t too regarding match fixing by Vincent and Cairns, despite Cairns being an idol of mine growing up. Yes both are totally fkd up and I think is "one the worst things I have seen on a cricket field" but I feel sandpaper and the circumstances surrounding it (Smith's "crying" face etc) kinda make it worse than Dravid's.. Both should have been given harsher punishments imo.

I had a thought. If a batter moves down pitch or runs before bowler completes his action because the batter hasn't started from popping crease, then the Umpire should call a short run every time the batter does it and multiple offenses should result in 5 run penalties. Would soon stop batter(s) leaving early?
@utha266518 күн бұрын
A short run is only given for the completion of a run. Law 18.3 - A run is considered "short" if a batsman does not ground any part of their body or bat behind the popping crease at either end of the pitch while completing the run.

And this is why I no longer follow any form of cricket anymore. I used to think the rough-and-tumble of 70's era Rugby League was a bit much, but it's nothing compared to the self entitled little cry-babies of international cricket, who seem to get worse with each passing year. And that's what I'll do in regards to the sport(?) I'll give it the big pass.

Most of these decisions aren't cheating, they are bad umpiring decisions. Even the caught behind of Pakistan, the player wouldn't have known the ball hit the ground while he was in the motion of diving. Brad Haddin wouldn't have known he hit the stumps in the second example. The front on shot shows the ball bouncing off the top of the bails just as the glove hits the bails. Look at the slo-mo at 1:04. The ball tampering ones, by all sides are the only forms of cheating here. Justin Langer needs a please explain, but nothing came of it. Even the blocking of the batsman wasn't too bad, the batsman actually slipped and fell. The Rashid Latif catch could be explained away as he thought he had fairly completed the catch, but he should have been upfront and at least ask the umpire to review it.
@jmilne575118 күн бұрын
@@utha2665 You are CORRECT. You DO see the bail get dislodged as the ball then enters the gloves...

@@jmilne5751 It was close and Haddin shouldn't have had his gloves so close to the bails, but it clearly shows the ball hitting the bails first.

The Anderson fingernail one is BS. He obviously dragged his nail the wrong way on the ball, I think he was merely smoothing out a nick in the ball, not trying to rough up the surface (youd drag your nail the other direction in that case).
