As a cricket coach you should be aware of what size cricket ball your team should be using, if not, then this is the guide for you.
There are 3 sizes of cricket balls available but which size should you be using or if buying as a gift for your son, daughter, or grandchild? We explain the differences in each size and what ages each are suitable for. We also offer advise for people buying balls for young players who are on the verge of moving up the age groups.
The sizes of cricket balls range form 4 3/4oz for youth players, 5oz for women and 5 1/2oz for adult players, so which should you be using?

Pretty sure here in New Zealand we don't use the youth ball and from age 9/10 move straight to a 142g ball and then boys at 13 move to the 156g ball.

Hi Dxke thanks for your comment. I didn't know that was the case in NZ. Is it the same in Australia too? So you use a ball which we class as a women's ball 5oz (142g) then move up to the full sized version from under 14's?. Very interesting, thanks for taking the time to share. 👍😀

@@SportsBallStu Yea I think it is the same in Australia. We also moved mainly to pink and white ball for anything Under 13's and below which I'm not a fan of but I only had to play one season with it.
