Wrong information. With knocking, the fibers in the wood contract. So the distance between each grain decreases due to the contracting and that is why the grain splits. The reason why we knock is so that the fiber contracts and wood hardens so that it can withstand the impact of the ball coming at high speeds. Please do not give wrong information!
