Sidhu , doesn't get much credit but man contributed 50+ scores in many matches. Back then he had a nick name, sixer sidhu, as he used to come down the track and loft the ball for maximum, trend back then was to play ground shots irrespective of the delivery, even full tosses, coach gaikwad made the batsman play all along the ground. Sixer sidu nicname was not so popular in india as that translated to chaccka sidu which meant eunuch sidu. Indian subcontinent pitches, indian players made hay, esp sidu, kambli, jadeja, azar etc but away pitches, they struggled.
@allinone-crickettravelfun29004 жыл бұрын
Sidhu only scored sixes off spinners ! Sachin is the only one I have seen from those days who would comfortably hit a six off fast bowlers ! Jadeja is the other one . The rest of the batsmen hardly hit fours leave alone sixes
@vik_body_beld72944 жыл бұрын
avinash n Sidhu earned that nick name but hitting a lot of sixes in first class matches too and that’s why he got selected for odi and tests. But yeah , scoring six of pace bowlers was done by special players only and that too on bad deliveries like full toss or full delivery outside the off stump line. Mianded scored a last ball six of Chetan sarma who was a medium pace bowler. Even Kapil had the ability to clear the ropes but he retired by 1994. Kambli also could do so with spinners only. Manjrekar had once hit a six of fiery pace bowler Allan Donald in 92 wc. Before Sidhu, it was Srikanth who always went for big shots. Ravi Shastri also had six hitting ability but only at FC level.
@allinone-crickettravelfun29004 жыл бұрын
VIK_BODY_BELD true , srikanth was the Sehwag of those days . Kapil’s strike rate of 91 for someone who played in the 70’s and 80’s is amazing ! The best all rounder India produced till date ! Impact wise , he was right up with Sachin and Virat !

@@allinone-crickettravelfun2900 agree with you partiality, because i do remember even Kapil, Azhar were hitting sixes in fast bowling. But, yes due to the sky high craze of Sachin.. his shots are comes to mind first

@@chandu23rd40 kapil yes I have seen in the highlights on you tube as I was born towards the end of 80s.. only started watching from 95-96 .. Azhar I remember went after aqib javed when India scored 300 for the first time in its history .. don’t remember him hitting sixes off fast bowlers .. Sachin’s sixes I clearly remember like it’s yesterday .. starting from the greats like McGrath , akram(I only remember 1 six ) Gillespie , Waqar younis , chaminda vas , Warne, muttiah, eddo brandes, olanga, ambrose and many more bowlers .. don’t remember him hitting sixes against Donald or pollock though ..
