Honestly, this belief that the past was better is exaggerated. Michael Clarke is no great bowler, and he took 6 wickets in an innings; the same goes for Murali Karthik. Kaif didn't got more chances because the team was packed intact with permanent performers in test team. Dk played test matches in eng and rsa at the opening position, scored consistent 50s, again when opening slot was settled by sehwag jaffer/gambhir by big opening partnerships, then as selectors they will choose who's performing consistently wheather anyone is gifted with batting technics like Dravid, Tendulkar or Kohli or without classic technic like sehwag. So, as far as you are not an international player or even close to that so don't criticise anyone who's by far bigger than your potentially. Ok.
