@@jayshah6644 I just want to say we shouldn't try to potray this like a great help for nation or sacrifice for patriotism. it was just an economic alliance with a private body of cricket, even that decision of taking funds from RBI reserves seems to be problematic for safeguarding one private board's image in ICC. common indian had many serious issues to deal with then.

@@aimexcellence1315 first of all it was not one private body's image, India's image was at stack. Let we look into the WI board payment matter, they dont have enough money to pay their own players. You read it in news, what comes in ur mind? WI board is very poor or WI - whole as a country is that poor, that even they don't have money to pay their players? - I hope you think as a neutral way. No one is saying that it was patriotism. But, he comes when we needed the most & that's why it's important. & If you saw the video properly, Ambani never jumped into it, he brought by Indira Gandhi into this matter. After her assassination, Rajiv didn't have good relations with Ambani, BCCI tried to go everywhere, but no one helped. And then he came, when nobody dares to enter. Dhirubhai Ambani was a keen cricket player in his early life. This was one reason for him to back the Cricket World Cup, because financially it was a huge risk for Reliance to invest in the event, given the fact that Cricket viewership in India was not huge at the time, and access to television was also much limited. Things had improved slightly after India unexpectedly won the 1983 World Cup but corporate sponsorship in Indian Cricket was still not a reality. The fact that Reliance went ahead with the sponsorship, given they had no interest (at the time) in sports, was an incredibly shrewd business decision which has to be admired in hindsight. They even got the World Cup renamed to Reliance World Cup which was unprecedented in cricket.

I just want to say we shouldn't try to potray this like a great help for nation or sacrifice for patriotism. it was just an economic alliance with a private body of cricket, even that decision of taking funds from RBI reserves seems to be problematic for safeguarding one private board's image in ICC. common indian had many serious issues to deal with then. also see in that video he asked for a seat along with prime minister in some match, was its an example of selflessness ?

@@ragesh29 ha ha ha, no one is doing anything here without seeing profit in it. Why you have problem if he sponsored whole event and named by his company? The important thing is he comes when nobody dares to help. He smells the opportunity and he took risk, what's bad in it? When you need help and all your frnds are not coming, but one person helps you for whole event, the respect for that person increased a lot more times in your mind. Just think in this way, and you will sense what @pratil wants to say.

In one way, they saved India from humiliation but then the Ambani's were minting money at the cost of India then itself... The fact: Ambani's can never be industrialist but just businessmen... Hope they carry all this wealth to afterlife or beyond to their grave... They are never above TATA

But it's also Ambani, who constructed new India - Cricket(1987 wc was named reliance cup), then IPL, then people didn't have internet, gave cheaper faster internet and brought india equal in terms of opportunities. We can study anything online, talk to anyone from foreign land, now is the best time to be in india.🙌
