Did a little research and I’m not sure if this was on the site when you did this video but cricut does advise that when you use the mug press the blank MUST be on the plate at the bottom or it can damage the machine, so I’m not sure it it’s the glass or the fact that you floated the cups over the plate

No it wasn't. it's because you aren't supposed to use glass. It overheats the mug press.

Have you tried to use the cricut mug press with a colored tumbler? Like a navy color? Do you like the transfer paper better than the infusable ink pens/ markers?

I was so excited about my mug press. I just used my mug press once and now it has error 04. The Cricut webpage says "Occurs when press detects an unexpected object." But I just used 2 cricut mugs the 1st time and now it doesn't have anything inside, so it should not give that error. I opened a ticket and they answer by mail that I should call then, have been in the line for hours and no one answers. Then emailed them again and got another email telling me to call them. Do you have any other good way to contact them?

Check the trouble shooting on cricuts page if it still doesn't work contact Cricut for a replacement

I got the red ring after only doing 6 Cricut brand mugs. I searched everywhere and couldn't find info. I think it must be a problem with the machine that needs fixed. They advertised it did 12oz & 15 oz mugs. I don't ;see why glass wouldn't be any different than the ceramic. Try changing your usb cord when trying to reboot too. I read where some had problems with that.

Me too. I've only used ceramic sublimation mugs, and I've had the same issue with three cricut mug presses. The machine is just crap, basically.

I honestly think it's really weird that using a different mug that's not even metal causes the machine to break. Their blancs are just ceramic no? There's nothing especially different about them is there? It just feels like cricut was trying to make more money, hence the reason why they're selling special blanc tees, mugs, totes etc. Even the cricut 3 they've restricted certain uses so that we use their smart materials. So I'm genuinely not sure if that's the only thing that messed up your mug press.

i know you used a 20 oz sub skinny tumbler I haven't tried it yet and bought all my material was going to use the silicone trivet not cardboard. Do you know is there any warnings on that because i really don't want to break my machine.

Sublimation mugs, but this machine works like a mug press so it didn't dawn on me that I couldn't use glass in it.

Is there any warning anywhere from Cricut regarding not to use Glass? I watched a UTube video that was posted in Apr. showing the many types of mugs and cups that even included glass beer steins that were not Cricut and there was no issue with the mug press.

No warning but they do so Ceramic. The muv press is Fine after 1 glass but if you try a second Glass shortly after that's when it burns out. 🔥

@@MrsCoffee1 I would assume it gets too hot and not enough time to cool down. I would guess if you let the press cool down before pressing another glass it would be fine. I'm sure there is a fuse inside the unit and it blew. Too hot. But look at the bight side you have a 200 dollar mug. Thanks for the warning

Yes you have to let it completely cool down before moving on to the next glass mug or cup

I probably wouldn’t do anything Cricut says “Not to use”. I don’t own the Cricut Mug Press, but I do have a mug heat press that is like the the 5 n 1’s or 7 n 1’s. You can change out the sleeve to be straight or the tapered ones. Mine adjusts with a turn knob. I’ve only used it 5 times - would like to try the glass but I’ll research more before trying

same hear only had it since beginning of april. it had to be replaced 1 month later because it started burning the not just the butcher paper but right through to the mug on one one place top left of the handle where the heating element is. thankfully cricut replaced it. I love the idea of it and I love the look of it but I seem to have problems with sublimating all over black mugs and yes machine is moody. I tape in the same way each time...most times I get perfect results but alot of times there's some issue and I have to waste two or three mugs trying to get a perfect mug. thinking about just getting another brand that may not be as cute and sexy but might produce more reliable results. I think it's good as an occasion craft press but not for selling with where you need to be able to produce good reliable results without wasting a tone of mugs in-between.
