17:40 there is still some vocabulary to learn: In the trial (the hearing in a low court to judge whether a person is guilty of a crime), we forgot to mention the plaintiff who issued (accused legally) the defendant (who is assumed to be guilty of a crime). Then, the jury will deliberate to come to a verdict. If either of the litigants (plaintiff or defendant) is in disagreement with the verdict, they might appeal against it (apply to a higher court for a reversal of the decision of a lower court). Hope you find it useful for basic law stuff 😊

Well, criminals usually begin commiting shoplifting and misdemeanors. Unfortunetly, some of them go deeper. They kidnap, mug, carjacking, burgler and then they see the way with no return. What starts as burglary sometimes becomes robbery, manslaughter or even rape. When felons decide that crime should be turned a job, they also commit fraud, blackmail, extortion, murder, Assault, tax evasion and bribery. Good vocabulary. Thanks again!

Dear Aly, I really enjoy your videos, they're a nice pick-me-up after a long day at work. The one thing bothering me though is your capitalising individual words that should be in the lower case unless starting a sentence. A note; the word ‘hijack’ means to illegally seizure any types of vehicle including ship and cars. We relate the prefix of the word ‘hi’ with ‘high’ as in a high place so we assume it’s something that happens in an aircraft. Although the term ‘carjack’ (or ‘seajack’) is widely accepted, some linguists claim they are not real words. Love all the videos and learning so much from you Aly.

@papateachme6 жыл бұрын
Whaaaaaaaaaat. Which country?
@kiranaaisyah52816 жыл бұрын
@@papateachme I'm from Indonesia. It's technically a democratic country, but the vast majority of population are muslims so some of the laws are rooted in islamic doctrines. We've been having blasphemy law for a long time, but it became truly a thing in the digital era. Because anybody who said or did anything that could be considered remotely blasphemous by some people or organisation would eventually be found guilty. The classic example was two years ago, the governor of Jakarta (capital city) who was also running for the next election, said something blasphemous about islamic scripture. The law is just incredibly subjective and could be used as a political weapon to knock down your political opponent. After that there were a series of protests by millions of people who wanted that governor to be imprisoned (some people even wanted to kill him). So for the past two years this issue about blasphemy has been on the rise. People seem to be easily offended these days. There was a woman who was sentenced to 18 months in jail for merely complaining about noisy mosque. Another resent case was two comedians had to become some sort of fugitives from some religious lunatics who wanted to kill them. And guess their crime? Cooking pork with dates. Probably because pork is haram (forbidden) and dates are some fruits that we often eat in Ramadhan, so they perhaps symbolize the religion. I don't know the rationale behind this, but this is just absurd beyond belief, and it's not even blasphemy. And I think the core problem is the mob mentality that has just become so crazy. Most of them probably haven't watched the videos, or don't know what the problems is, they just follow the crowd. Sorry for the long reply, this is just something that got under my skin. Anyway, I love your videos and your style of teaching. I've been trying to improve my accent, and I want one like yours.

I've never shoplifted, but I used to be a biblioklept when I was 5th or 6th grade. Parents could not buy me books, so there was a result :) I adore books! Any time when I enter book store or library, I may get lost there for hours. But no more being biblioklept :)

Thank u so much Mr.Aly , I really like your videos ❤ This is my example: I've never commited anyone of those crimes, but I've heard of some of them happened in my city. For example, our neighbors' house has been burgled when they went for a vacation. And I heard of someone who works in my departement who takes bribery from students to give them the questions of the tests before the exams. And we often hear of some guys who blackmail girls with their pictures. And I've been mugged the last year, but thanks god he couldn't take anything because I yelled and peaple gathered so fast. And I admit it, when I was a kid, I shoplifted once 😅
