By knowing the formula, Jesse outranked everyone in that room. And he knew it
@LucianDevine8 сағат бұрын
And with just a tiny bit of translation help from Gus, and being able to read the body language of the people around him, he was able to take charge.
@jeanlouis67828 сағат бұрын
True, but he is dealing with the cartel here. In a real situation, nothing would stopped them from just torturing him until he gives them the formula. Luckily, it is a show, and Jesse had a strong plot armour ;)
@LucianDevine8 сағат бұрын
@@jeanlouis6782 True, but there's no reason to torture somebody if they will willingly give it to you. He belongs to the Cartel either way. So they will only torture him for it if he tries to escape or refuses to cook. Otherwise he'd likely live a fairly comfy life, or at least as comfy as one could expect.

Well the whole scene doesn’t make sense from a science perspective. Clearly the Mexican chemist knows how to make meth. A simple phone call or email and he could have learned which specific part or parts of the process Walt was doing that is different from the cartels process of making meth !

@Gyrodelo21 сағат бұрын
He knows Gus has his back. He knows he ain't just a little punk like he was with Tuco. The cleaning part was just a power move from his part to start showing how his method is already better from the other chemist's, even without cooking. That's why we focus a brief moment on Mike and Gus while Jesse speaks. It shows us they back him on this situation as they know, he's exactly who they need for the job.
@LucianDevine8 сағат бұрын
@@Gyrodelo A power move, but also a necessary power move. Note one thing though, note who he said would be cleaning. Jesse didn't say "you". He said "we". So he's going to help scour and clean to get their lab fit for his cook.

I believe this is another reason Gus saw Victor as a liability. He was just mimicking the formula so if Gus had brought Victor to do their plan, Gus would have failed right here because Victor wouldn't have known what to do in this lab. Jesse(and especially Walter) knew the formula well.
