Wow after watching it I remembered that I attended the trial of this guy for quite a few days. It was called the "Gardens by the Bay" murder by the media at that time. I remember the accused was evasive in court and even broke down crying while being cross-examined by the Deputy Attorney-General at times. He said he burnt the body to "give a proper send-off" to his girlfriend. Judge even had the accused demonstrate how he strangled the victim in the car.

I always thought that this guy had a mental breakdown or something after the strangulation as he probably was doing everything subconsciously where he is aware but maybe he couldn’t turn himself in because of fear or something. It's not really murder, it's likely that it was ruled as manslaughter, assuming all of what Leslie confessed was true. In the laws of most countries, SG included, there is a distinction between premeditated and unpremeditated killing. He also most likely got charged with manipulation of crime scene (or sth similar, I forget the actual law's name).
