He seems to have become complacent and sloppy in 1987, which got him caught. They also later found traces of Suzy Lamplugh's DNA in a car he didn't own until a bit later - unfortunately that alone is probably not enough to prove murder. The police submitted a pretty compelling casefile to the CPS for the Lamplugh case but sadly it wasn't enough.

according to david vicette (book) the reason why cannan moved to bristol was to be with/near his girlfriend who was a solicitor. it just so happens that her cousin was the lamplugh family solicitor. very fishy - mr. kipper!
@halfbakedproductions78872 ай бұрын
Piecing it all together, it seems like Suzy and Cannan already knew each other even before he was finally released from his bail hostel. I think he robbed her bag in the pub that night as a show of power and to mess with her, then he put in the bogus appointment to see the house as a way of being alone with and surprising her. It would have a far greater impact if a) she wasn't expecting him (might have been 'cute'?) or b) she had been avoiding him and he finally cornered her. If he'd given honest details to Sturgis when making the appointment then chances are Suzy would have asked a colleague to go along instead.

@westminsterwatcher515218 күн бұрын
@@halfbakedproductions7887 You're right, there is already a wealth of evidence to suggest that Suzy and Cannan had an association. I believe that association was a sexual one and they embarked on a fling whilst he was on leave from the hostel. Periodically, he'd disappear early from dates (likely to avoid breaching his bail), and bragged to colleagues about trawling the wine bars of Fulham and meeting a "special girl from Fulham", referring to the girl by the nickname "Susu." From what she told her family, she mentioned a date in which she went to a motor race (Cannan's favourite sport) and how the guy turned very angry, leaving her very frightened. She wanted to terminate their association and was set to tell him straight. I believe he was stalking her and upon seeing Suzy with her boyfriend on the Friday before her disappearance, he became very bitter, stole her items, and plotted to ambush her on the day of her disappearance. Maybe she tried to placate him, but in the end, I suspect an argument ensured and fueled with jealousy and murderous rage, Cannan ultimately killed her. It's a dreadfully sad case and I would hope that now in the event of Cannan's death, someone might do the decent thing and provide the necessary information that might assist in the recovery of her remains. Her family deserve closure.

Why aren't his two siblings also killers? For any act, you can cobble together a narrative based upon common societal perceptions of why people behave in certain ways, then apply it to past events. After that at midnight the police - her husband possibly also scoured her possible routes from work but did he raise the alarm in time? She was kept alive for 18 hours - I would presume she was dead by the time the alarm was raised? If the earlier aborted incident had been tied in with this missing woman and the police had a list of known offenders in the area maybe she could have been saved - what was all that about a woman calling for a taxi too???
