The killer drug that's put the Irish prison system on high alert

Following the death of a 21-year-old Mountjoy inmate, a nationwide alert for Nitrazene has been sent across the prison service.
A quantity of pills tested positive for the lethal substance after Adam Darcy was found deceased in his cell.

Nitrizine is not an opioid, it is a tranquilizer, a really strong one for vet use. They typically mix it with opioids.

Opium is a long way from heroin. Depending on source / poppy type it might be 15% morphine at most, probably 10%. It's a shame that there is no market for opium, I've only come across it in North India but would use it occasionally if I could get it. The Balkans has been dealing with war & genocide- maybe they thought poppy eradication wasn't a priority?

Only time I od'd was after I got clean for few months and some arsehole asked me to score for them so being the idiot I am I tried it after drinking all day. Woke up in hospital room 3 cops at window all with their backs to me and there were 2 doors in room so jumped up and was away on me toes. Not me best day as had date with girl I'd just met the night I went over, that took some explaining.
