I love that Jackson Rathbone showed more emotion and acting skills in his first 2 minutes of this episode than the entirety of Twilight

Acting in a movie and a TV show are two completely different things

@@lindseycampbell4271 the work environment is different, but I doubt the actual work is so different that an actor’s performance will be different BECAUSE it’s a movie vs a show. It’s like saying a one act play that practices a couple hours a day is totally different than a three act play the practices all day. They aren’t totally different. The acting stays the same

the sentencing part is complicated cuz Adam LITERALLY didn't know what was happening. Amanda is not Adam and Adam is not Amanda. It's like if it was with conjoined twins. We cant separate this pair cuz its not possible for them, and lets say one twin is killing people (like with poison or something) but the other twin literally has no idea what is happening and is completely innocent, how would you sentence that?? either someone is getting away with their crimes, or someone is getting punished for someone else's actions. it is a lose-lose situation either way

I love Reid's empathy for unsubs, he is such a kind person who knows he could be like them because he has self awareness. I feel really sorry for Adam and Julie and people like them and i hope they get help and be family happy together. Actors are really good too.

While this is an amazing episode with incredible acting, this is also unfortunately why a lot of those with D.I.D. dislike how it's portrayed in films and tv. Far more often than not, the alters in a system are portrayed as evil or some other variation of villainous. There is almost no representation of a D.I.D. system in media that isn't negative.
@jlerrickson Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it seems that the only shows that want to feature DID are crime shows. Criminal Minds does a slightly better job at helping the audience to empathize with the person and to understand how it can happen, but that's a really low bar. I would love to see a well executed drama that explores a system protagonist living their life, and everyone around them doing the same.

United States of Tara was a pretty good show revolving around DID. One of her personalities was also male and developed a relationship with another woman and she and her family didn't even realize it for awhile.

I mean D.I.D. is formed through trauma, i would personally find it odd if it wasn’t shown “negatively”. At least, they were crossing the boundaries into mental health issues in that era lol.

One of the episodes I felt bad for the unsub and Reid’s compassion because he could relate bringing back Tobias in some sort. In Tobias case he was aware of his alter ego’s were Adam didn’t, or seemed like he didn’t. Another epic episode I forgot it was this season.

You would be surprised how feminine and like a girl some men can look, especially if they are fairly petit, doesn't produce a lot of testosterone and with a good make up job. Plus the guys was definetly drunk and despeerate for sex, it was spring break.

The episode is not bad, but as someone who has been studying DID for some time now, this was really desinformative. This type of representation is a bad one. There is never a good representation of this disorder on TV. They always put them as criminals or murders. And for those who are going to defend these things by saying is just fiction. I saw a woman with DID. She saw a representation like this one on a TV show, and she got triggered and was crying. She was crying because her childhood trauma was always being used to put her as the villain in every story. That's why i didn't like this episode ☹️
@Kasrhael Жыл бұрын
Well, this is a crime show, what else could they have done? Use it as a red hairing?
@trixert526 Жыл бұрын
@Kasrhael that's the part I do understand. This is a crime show, so it was going to be used that way, so it has a justification. Because is a crime show they have to put information incorrectly? They couldn't investigate? They used the disorder to make a story, so the least thing they could do is do proper research.
@meganhutcheson5867 Жыл бұрын
To your point, with you studying DID isn’t that something extremely controversial to be diagnosed with or even to suggest, simply, because, depending on which medical professional, you ask some say yes, it is real while others say no, it’s completely fictional it’s not real there’s no such thing. Also, since it’s still, some thing, I think that’s still debated in the medical profession couldn’t it be possible that they were using the information that they had to create that concept of a person with the DID?
@trixert526 Жыл бұрын
@meganhutcheson5867 DID is in the DSM5 and the ICD11. People who don't believe in this disorder are just on denial. There is medical evidence. If they try to ignore it, that's their fault.
@xkindredxsoulsxxx41955 ай бұрын
@@meganhutcheson5867This. I mean you do have to keep in mind this show isn't current and the field is rapidly changing when it comes to the disorder in particular as I understand. I have gotten the impression things are swinging more to the side of it being recognized as a disorder, BUT it didn't used to be that way and I imagine that meant accurate and plentiful information was hard to find. And I was under the impression part of the reason the disorder was thought to be invented was that criminals have been caught faking it to get out of crimes. Given this it's really not surprising crime shows have a fascination with it.
