honestly same, i wasn’t part of the fandom back then. in elementary/middle/high school i liked some of their music but i didn’t have all their albums and learn everything about them and whatnot. i just knew some popular songs. but then in the beginning of last year i started listening to harry’s music and fell in love! so i’ve been a big fan of him since then. and then this year i was like, you know what i wanna learn more about one direction bc i’ve heard a few singles from the other boys and they’re really good. so i’ve been researching a ton and watching compilations on youtube and now i’m literally obsessed 😭🤚 i’m just so sad that i wasn’t one of their big fans back then bc i missed all of the best moments, and now all i see of them are long gone memories 😔

hey! this is super late but here goes nothing. reminder: these are all fan theories. people assume they had a crush on each other during x-factor, but never really did anything about it. what leads people to believe this is the infamous clip of harry saying his first real crush was 'louis tomlinson'. after 'up all night' had dropped, they got together. this is backed up by the clip of harry saying him and louis are dating after being asked by a fan. they were still affectionate up until 2013, when it started to lessen. fans think they had to sign some sort of contract. but in 2013, louis had written 'right now', which seems it could be about their relationship. given it's about a person who is in an uncomfortable setting and wishing their partner was there with them. harry wrote 'just a little bit of your heart' which ariana grande had put on her album 'my everything'. the lyrics tell a sordid tale of a girl stuck in love with a cheating partner…who she simply can not let go of. keep in mind, harry wrote this song with female pronouns. this is a song to be sung by a gay man or straight woman. this song for harry personally could be about louis + eleanor, and how he can't be with louis publicly. fast forward to the release of the album four. louis wrote 'steal my girl'. some people think it's about the fans, but the line 'kisses like cream, her walk is so mean' contradicts that. they don't kiss their fans romantically, so it's an odd line. the song works with male pronouns, which is how it could've been originally written. 'he be my king since we were 16, we want the same things, we dream the same dreams'. the dreams and things they both desire could be how they both wanted to be musicians from a young age. 'i don't exist if i don't have him, the sun doesn't shine, the world doesn't spin'. louis wrote 'ready to run' which is about forgetting about everything else and being with that one person. a particular lyric discusses criticism from others. heterosexual relationships don't get that sort of criticism because it's the 'norm'. louis wrote 'fireproof' which i perceive to be about being in love with someone, but hoping for change. the change could be being able to be free. i think the song 'home' is pretty self explanatory. it's a very queer song, niall's verse sounds like the protagonist is coming to terms with their sexuality. "what a feeling' is a super underrated larry song! it's about this great feeling being with someone, but unfortunately, not being able to all the time. could it be that they can't be affectionate to the media? another line discusses chains and not being held back, aka the chains being management but not letting it under their skin. it's a beautiful song. 'perfect' was written by both of them. pretty self explanatory. i forgot to mention earlier, but louis wrote 'you and i'. it doesn't get louder that that. 'end of the day' is super gay, and i love it. some of these songs hint that louis is not straight, which could tip into larry having more chances of being real. anyways, band splits. boom, solo careers. oh yeah, and the whole baby situation. i won't get into that because i don't feel comfortable theorizing a child. anywho, many people think they broke up after the band did. this does make sense, according to time lines. eleanor and louis are also split at this point in time. louis released in 2017 the song 'miss you' ultimately about missing someone, and the song 'from the dining table' has a very similar story! both mentions apologizing and phone calls. this hints to stubborness, which ties into 'sweet creature'. the line 'we're both stubborn i know'... if these songs were all released in 2017, they were written beforehand. possibly 2016. side note: in 2018-ish, louis was a judge for x-factor. a group of girls performed a song of harry, can't remember what. louis cried and it never aired on television! okay, back on track. harry also performed 'girl crush' in 2017?? a girl crush is a female + female crush. but harry is a man. for a man to perform that song, it seems to be about wanting to be that woman because of the man she's with. let's get into walls. 'we made it' is so obvious, no need for details. louis said 'too young' is about meeting the one you love at 18 (when he met harry) and he met eleanor at 19-20 ish. this song feeds into the breakup theory, with lines of hurting the person the song is about. 'habit' could be about 1D, but what makes me think it's not are his lines about messing up and the other person leaving. the band didn't split because of louis, so it doesn't add up. can't be about eleanor because she didn't live at princess park with him. 'always you' is loud on it's own. and 'defenceless' is just... i can't put it into words. louis wrote 'always you' before 2017 because in an interview in 2017, he mentioned he liked that song off the album. so it was already written. omg i wrote so much, i'm tired! if you remind me by replying, i'll come back and finish this up :D

I’m hearing that their contract ended in 2015 from one source, another that they individually split from modest after and a little before the hiatus was announced.
