Bdo combat is arguably the best looking and feeling in the genre, so I believe that PA will 100 percent deliver in that aspect, my fear is the story and writing that has been one of bdo's weaknesses and the engine isn't the best when it comes to optimization but then again this is a single player not an mmo. That costume change mechanic was in AC liberation, but it was handled so poorly. You had to go to wardrobes scattered around the map to swap between your assassin, slave, and lady attire but i dont remeember any instance where there was any benefit to using the latter 2 when you were given the choice since they also hampered combat and freerunning options (outside of moments when it was required to use a particular outfit for story reasons).

I watched the new 50min footage released and i have mixed thoughts. The world LOOKS nice but I'm worried about it being window dressing and feeling empty at times. Also, the dialogue for some parts is really bad, the lines being given to the voice actors to read feel more like exposition dump and doesn't sound like something a real person would say. This is for almost all the characters and if you're trying to draw Witcher 3 comparisons then the dialogue and how it's being said are crucial. Footsteps were loud asf but that's an easy fix I believe. Combat I'm not worried about too much because of the 4 boss fights we've seen. They just have to make it feel a little more realistic in terms of impact (blade against armor/skin). Facial animations were also questionable but I think that will improve since this is an older build I believe. Truth be told I'm just hoping they really fix that dialogue and presentation of it because that could really kill them!
@Barbarosse193 ай бұрын
There are also some preformence issues i noticed like they use heavy upscaling... and when the character walks throw that gate to the town in min 10 i think on the edges of the screen you can clearly see the stone pebbles turning from 3d to 2d same thing for the wall stones... The sound issue that you mentioned is not that big of a deal... m more concerned about the sound of the environment... voice overs and lip sync...sounds of the crowds... those are crucial for immersion... And NPCs and in that last boss fight NPCs were kind off to me there was like 2 or 3 of them walking around at the same time in perfect synchronization that's not how crowds should look. And finally, the dialog was not that bad to me... but English is not my native language so m not the best judge on that.
@MichielHaarlemHarlem3 ай бұрын
@Ben, yes I agree about the bad (dialogue) writing and the somewhat shallow-looking world. Writing is important for world building too, so I'm curious whether they can create a believable and interesting fictional universe. Another thing: the mix of very clear inspirations feels a bit weird for me. I wonder what the game will bring to set it apart and define it.
@kidnamedfinger28403 ай бұрын
I think the dialogue has the same problem as ghost of tsushima, like it's not horrible but it isn't good either. In ghost as well, most of the conversations in the main quest felt natural but I can't say the same for a large majority of the side quests

I can see that but at the same time they coulda taken the individual elements of AC and made something better. Like how you mention the fights. Yeah I get they were limited to the IP and Norse mythology but at the same time bosses coulda been more than the same attack combos X number of times over. Was AC but could have been an amazing one at least. Really hope this isn't like that where you're walking/riding/sailing around a huge world where there isn't anything going on most of the time. I wanna see animals, large numbers and various world events, enemy groups, people who need help like RDR2 etc. Looks amazing so far and it's at the top of my list once Funko fusion is out 😂. Also with AC, wasn't it the same team as Origins which had more systems going for it? Like the enemy AI and how they had schedules. Sleeping, urinating, etc.
