There's a kid in my Homeroom, English, Math, Art and Music classes and he dabs a lot. At this point it's everyday, multiple times a day. One day the tallest kid in the class threatened him by saying something along the lines of 'if you dab one more time I will fight you on the footy field mate.'(It's an Australian school). So this kid, like an idiot, dabbed. The tall kid full on slapped him and the dabbing kid fell to the floor and he landed face first and his nose was bleeding. The teacher came over and started freaking out and one other kid had to take the dabbing kid to the school nurse. The tall kid ended up getting lunchtime detention, but he managed to escape the detention room and he gathered a bunch of the dabbing kid's friends and he took them to the window near the nurse office and he made them dab in front of the window. The dabbing kid still dabs, but not in the classes we have with the tall kid.

It's hard for teachers, especially of teenagers. My classes have students ranging from 12-18. Trying to get any important message across is hard. She took a big swing that she thought might break their sarcastic, eye rolling apathy and it didn't work well. Even if they do like singing, and those were their favourite songs, they definitely wouldn't sing in front of their peers because they haven't grown out of caring what inconsequential cliquetwats think of them. I tell my students to do what I tell them, or they'll probably fail the test, and if they want more information or help, my door's open. They seem to respect being given freedom of choice. Some of them choose to fail. I can respect that too. School sucks when you're one of the inmates.
