I was accused of faking a seizure and denied care by the emt. Almost died on my kitchen floor. Afterwards I refused to go to the ER when my legs became paralyzed, certain that you can't just wake up paralyzed. I'm a part time wheelchair user due to a nuero condition, and decided to keep the paralysis to myself. When my mom noticed I went straight to the ER, thoroughly pissed at going to there. I eventually got diagnosed with conversion disorder. They were shocked that I hid it so well.

Listening to the "last words" bit reminded me of when my grandfather passed. He was a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down thanks to a fall while he was working doing bricklaying. He lived in my house my entire life so it was normal to just go in and watch TV or movies and curl up in his bed and just be with him. My grandfather was a really nice man, always asking for anything politely, and always treated his nurses well. About a week before he passed he fell into a coma, and I think the last words I ever heard from him was an "I love you." before I went to bed. I wasnt home when he passed, I was about 45 minutes drive away staying at a friend's house. My mom called my friend's mom and she told me that Papa had just passed and if I wanted to come home, even though they had already taken him away. I ended up staying at the friend's house and we just went to bed after that. I love you Papa. You're in a better place now. I will always keep the picture of us together on my dresser.

My unprofessional doctor story: When I was in middle school I was suicidal. My depression is mostly medical (and theres a family history), not trauma-based though there were some things in my elementary years that added a lot to it. I went to the psych ward after a suicide attempt when I was 12, and in one of my first meetings with the doctor assigned to me there he asked me if I had just broken up with a boyfriend. When I responded no, I was just getting bullied a lot at school, he told me that I was faking my depression for attention. (Later was diagnosed with social anxiety along with general anxiety and of course depression, along with some other mental issues). Luckily the next hospital I went to had better doctors.

This on top of adhd and possible ptsd (have had adhd my whole life, the ptsd hasnt been diagnosed but i am 99% certain i have some form of it due to traumatic experiences) Things are better now for me but still imagine telling a 13 year old that theyre not actually mentally ill theyre just fat

The one story made me think of my grandma, she died in May of 2019 due to heart failure brought on by COPD. She had been a chain smoker for many years, in fact, there was a family joke that she only needed one match/light a day. She stopped smoking when I was in my early teens, after being told that if she didn’t stop smoking right then, she would be dead in weeks, but if she did, she’d have another ten years. She stopped smoking either right before or right after my sister Taylor was born, and that was in 2008. I was 14. She made it just over 10 years. She called my great aunt late on the night she died, she couldn’t breathe. Paramedics had to break her back door in to get to her, and she died within a couple hours of that, they did manage to bring her back a few times, but it didn’t last. She was 69. She hadn’t told my dad or his brothers that she had been aware that her heart was failing. And the day she died was a huge shock to us. I was 25 at the time and had been living on my own for 5 years. I went to the hospital to be with my dad, uncles, and my great aunts. Hasn’t been the same since she passed. Christmases in particular are super hard. She was a main fixture in a huge part of my childhood. We’d see her every holiday, and would go camping with her every summer. And we all miss her so so much.

Turns out a guy from her church started sneaking her food, and convinced her there was nothing wrong with her kidneys. She is on dialysis now. I cut ties (there were a lot of issues besides those).

NEVER forgotten the critical information. He's clung to his family, he's clung to all of the information in the Bible he memorized and every time I visit him, he tells me " Boy... I'm proud of you. I got to see you grow into a man... but I'm ready to go. " and I just have to try not to cry in front of him and go " I know, Sir. I love you. I won't be upset when you go. I'll miss you, but I won't be mad at you for wanting to go, PawPaw. " I thought it was hard knowing that my Granny held me as a baby while she had cancer... and she wept and she told me " I'm never going to get to see you grow up in person, but I'll watch you from above. " and it just makes me happy and sad that they'll be together again... my grandfather lived on to make sure I grew into a man she'd be proud of, but he's ready to go see her again... and knowing that makes my heart hurt so bad. It makes me so happy that he's going to be happy when he goes, but knowing that the man that helped raise me and helped for my moral compass... helped teach me right from wrong is going to go soon... and I'll be left with no grandparents by blood anymore. Enjoy your time with them while you can, people... they came from a time we can't even comprehend. We live in a time of such prosperity and take it all for granted, saying we never have enough... but just be happy you have them, because unlike all the things you want to collect - they don't last. What's really messed up is when you have a legitimate health issue and the doctor treats you like you are faking. Was a victim of assault and rape. Couldn't see out of my left eye, extreme pain from there, blood around my eye, swollen shut, EMT on the scene tells me I just have a broken nose and some swelling. Once at the ER doctor says to rush me into testing, shield me like I'm pregnant, is very very concerned. X-rays showed my skull was fractured, my eye socket no longer existed and my eyeball had been pushed through what used to be an eye socket. I had undergo surgery to remove all the broken bone shards, have a plaster socket put in, and have my eye put back in place. Early 20's, extreme abdominal pain. High pain tolerance, so I'm able to calmly say my pain level is a 10. Get put in a room and ignored for hours. MIL drives from another city and screams and curses at medical staff because they are doing literally nothing while I'm in pain. Nurse literally rolls his eyes and talks about taking me to have a CT scan of my abdomen. I pass out. I'm told later they tried to wake me up, pushed on my chest to cause me pain to make me stop faking, didn't wake up, took me to do the CT with MIL still screaming and cussing, then rushed me into OR because I had a ruptured appendix and was septic.

@1:09:05 happened to my dad too. He was in his 20s and didn't feel well at work. They had a nurse on site and she didn't see anything wrong. Gave him asprin and told him to take his 15 min break. He passed out and fell over walking to the break room. Appendix burst.

"I believe our deceased relatives are there when we die". Then I need to have a word with my deceased grandfathers and uncles to prevent my creepy, dead parents from showing up. Edit: I hate that racist one. All humans are all fully human.

Not said by the dying person but by my aunt to my grandfather. He was catatonic but alive, she told him that he could let go. His brother and nefew were in heaven with the whiskey and the worms waiting to go fishing. He died one minute later. It's like he was waiting for permission to die. This still makes me cry to this day.

Simple civilian: As an older brother, I help my sister a lot. My family, living in a more rural area, would find animals in the back every now and then. My dad found three baby bunnies/rabbits and my sister took care of them. 1st died due to lack of knowledge. 2nd died but I don’t remember how. 3rd one died in my arms as I tried my best to feed it after my sister hadn’t for days (she is 10). I was playing on my Xbox when I had noticed it shaking a lot in the corner and had asked my sister if she fed it recently. “No”. I rushed to save it. If only I could have saved it, but it was too late. Wouldn’t eat/drink the “milk” and died in my hands. Wasn’t easy to tell my sister the truth as I held her tightly. I didn’t have much of a connection with the babies but that last one hurt as I had failed to recognize the situation in time. I spent at least 15min trying to feed it. I cried as I hummed a tune when it closed it’s eyes

I bet literally anything that the reason for all of the death stories is that they are hallucinating before death, and it happens enough that occasionally it resembles weird shit.

I remember my dad was emphatic about DNR and when he finally got well enough to come home (to die, I am sure) and his heart stopped that night while he was watching TV in his recliner, the stupid nurse called 9-1-1 and they dragged him back into the hospital, which he absolutely did not want. The whole family was upset about that. And after all the usual shenanigans he died. He was so sick of the hospital.

I had an ankle injury 1.5 years ago. Dang thing still hurt, still swells, sometimes tingles. Went to see sports and medicine doctor. Has the attitude of "your clearly faking for drugs or attention." Went to see another same thing. Latest GP visit with new doctor "I see your white blood cell count was a little high on last blood test and ankle looks like maybe has arthritis but I don't see arthritis. Maybe we should do blood tests to check inflammatory markers". Inflammatory markers come back high (or positive not sure which one is used). Now waiting on health insurance to kick in so I can get proper testing.

On the topic of last words: My great-grampy's last words were "I'll go see Frank in the morning. Good night." He died in his sleep that night. Frank was one of his friends, but also his long-deceased son's middle name/nickname. My great-nan's last words were on the phone to my nan, when she said "I won't see you again for a while, so I'll just say love you and leave it at that." She had a heart attack and was found dead three days later. My Nan is still going strong, years later, so they were both right.

Not a doctor & this happened to me. Called 911 positive I'm having a heart attack. Get me in the ambulance & go asystole. Received CPR & get shocked twice. Obviously, they get me back. I was pissed at the time because I was talking to my mom who'd died 10 years earlier & I wasn't done. Creeps alot of people out to hear that, but it absolutely happened.

4:43 when it said “Young (18-20) woman went running into a rural hospital” I heard that out loud as “Young 1820 woman” and thought this story took place in the 1820s. It’s appalling to me that my logic/conclusion was unfazed by the follow up sentence “police tagged her going 40+km over the limit which is ‘stunt driving’” as I assumed she sped to the rural doctor on a horse and buggy while holding onto her ostrich feather hat at top speed.

My family literally had one of the drop dead moments just before Christmas this year. My grandparents had been running errands and everything was fine. They get home. My uncle starts heading home and my grandparents walk through their front door. Grandpa says he wouldn't be needing lunch or dinner that day and just hits the floor. Heart attack that ended in instant death essentially. Grandma was so shocked that she just called my uncle and told him he needed to come back because she thinks his dad just dropped dead.

years ago I got upset that my siblings wouldn't let me use the big tv in our living room and started crying. my mom pulled me aside and asked why I was so upset since I could just use the small tv in her room. of course I had no real reason so I lied and said I couldn't see the screen in her room. obviously my mom took me too the optometrist and what do you know one month later I get glasses. and that's the story of how wanting to watch river monsters led to me getting glasses.

At 1:31:44 the midwife. At the moment they have to ask that, because if you don't have kids doctors don't want to do that type of surgery. It's worse if you're married they want you to wait until you've had two kids or are over 40 before you have it done. Even if you have a health issue that makes it almost impossible to have a good outcome. Even then you have to have your husband's written permission for the surgery. It's a load of crap but don't blame the midwife. It was probably her precursor to starting to explain the crap show to come.

Not a doctor but I work in a lab, we have female patients go to our clinic faking illness just to get out of the house. Sometimes they're just seeking some TLC from the husband. How do we know? They will come in grasping the husband's hand because they're too nauseated or they're in too much pain to walk, then they will come to the lab groaning and moaning saying they're too afraid of needles to get some pity from the husband, husband then go out of the lab closing the door, and what do you know, wife straightens out, hands her arms out and obediently wait for us to get blood, stands up and walks to the door (perfectly fine) and hunches back again once the door opens and here comes the husband taking her hand carefully 😂😂😂

I once had an Uber driver ask if I was "really blind". I'd ask him to call my name or something and they'd be like "I'm in x colored car" or "I'm flashing my lights" or something. Finally after about twenty minutes was when he asked if I was actually blind. My answer was "Yes, my retinas are detached from the back of my eye and have been since I was about a year old." I didn't think people faked being blind, so I was very confused. Suddenly his question makes a lot more sense. :)

I got a story of me faking an illness when I was little. To get out of school I would fake a stomach illness (I had a history of frequent real stomach troubles) One time I went to the doctor and they found I actually had an issue with my stomach. Abdominal Migraine and something else that I needed actual medication for. So because I was a little shit who wanted to get out of school, I got actual help with a real issue I never knew I had. Thankfully my stomach is a lot more normal now. But apparently Abdominal Migraines just become Migraines later in life... Not looking forward to that...

Responding to the question, things docs have said. I have an eye problem called "rotational nystagmus", (Think Artie Johnson in "Laugh-In") the nerves of my eyes constantly try to rotate the eye. This is very rare. Most people who have nystagmus have it from side to side. But, at this time, I knew NONE of this. I go to the optometrist and sit in the chair. He walks in, stops, looks at me and says, "Wow, you must be great at parties". What?

Reminds me of my grandfathers death, his actions not words. Was in hospice for about a week ar this point. In home, hospital bed they brought into the living room. On the day he passed the in home hospice lady had told my grandmother to gather the family his condition is worsening. My dad came, left for work. Aunts, uncles, etc. His brother hadn't come over yet but he was just right on the line of death, unresponsive, the works. Once his brother made it my grandma told him as his brother walked into the room "Hey, *insert brothers name* is here to see you". His eyes snapped open and he took a deep inhale after this was said only to pass about 10 minutes later.
