5 months? What you’ve done is chosen getting it perfect in slow tempo so you don’t have to FIX IT all over the place later on! Beautifully played! Stayed on perfect tempo. String work like silk. And 100% True to the bluegrass style. The whole time you were playing, I just knew you were teasing us and soon we’re going to go into breakneck speed. LOL!! I really did. Don’t ever quit.

I just inherited a banjo and have only been working a couple of weeks and actually find this quite inspirational. For one, you have not let your damaged hand stop you. For two, your slides, hammers, and pull offs all ring true, with emphasis on quality over quantity or speed. Bravo, and I hope you have played many a lick since.

Wow, nicely done! I am just. Learning banjo and it is a hard instrument. I've been a professional musician for over 3 decades playing guitar, bass, harmonica, piano, vocals, etc. But banjo is by far the most uniquely challenging so far. I am hoping I can learn as well as you were in this video after I get a few months under my belt. Great job my friend!

Nice job Bear!!! You inspire me. I just started learning the banjo. I have always loved the sound and the rhythmic motion of the three-finger style. So, at age 62 and now retired my lovely spouse bought me a banjo and some lessons and said “go forth, learn, practice, enjoy, have fun and play the banjo”. Hence I shall do so. Right now I am learning the rolls and the basic mechanics of the instrument, focusing on getting the feel for hand placement and naturally finding the strings with the fingers. I really like how smooth, steady and easy your pace is on this song. Congratulations on a great achievement. I committed to my brother I would “play him a song on my banjo” on his upcoming birthday in six months. I know its gonna take dedication and focus but your accomplishment in similar time has inspired me further!!

Great job! I was in the middle of guitar lessons and quit temporarily. I bought a Banjo, self taught myself 3 hours a day for 30 days and learned Cripple Creek to the "T" at the right tempo. My best advice is learn the rolls and slowly bringing up the tempo and playing 2 to 3 hrs a day.

That's a good idea, when you hit the wall, and you will, you can help each other through it. As I said before take your time, it's better to play slowly and accurately than fast and badly, you can always speed up and be accurate but it doesn't work the other way around.
