That wording on Drones will be vital in the understanding of whether the Coldstar will be a functional suit, as with the drone controller it could actually bypass the FMC rules and allow it to be attached to drones of many kinds. From gun drones to even Missile Drones, it can actually place such units behind enemy lines and proceed to detach itself to do nother stupid nonsense as the drones harrass the backliners of the opponent.

I would assume that the cold star can take signature systems. The note about the two support systems and ranged weapon is to counter act the 4 support systems and range weapon from the normal suit. It doesn't invalidate the possibility of taking signature systems.

Ok I have some clarification on the Coldstar. If you read the information on the right he is only a character not an independent character. So he cannot join another unit.

that is incorrect. IC is listed under his special rules section, where it belongs. I don't see anything taking that away.

If he is a monsterous creature then he cannot be joined with another unit. He does have his drones through but they go away when he is in flying mode.

why not? the rule says an Independent Character can't join a unit containing Monstrous Creatures. I see nothing saying that they can can't join a unit if they're an IC.

If he's a Monstrous Creature, which can shoot 2 weapons and has a multi-tracker, which allows you to shoot an extra weapon, that means he can shoot 3 weapons. Right? I guess that depends if they change multi-tracker.

+Drew Thompson Yes, but the coldstar is only allowed two weapons (the burst cannon and missile pod). So, that extra option would be wasted :(

the IC rule says that it cannot join a unit containing MC's. I see nothing that says an MC IC can't join a unit. although his movement rules wouldn't play very well with the rest of the units.

So being only T4, if your Coldstar commander takes and fails a grounded test he dies on a 2+ unless he has a 4+ invulnerable. Ouch, possible 145 points wasted if used wrongly.

It hard to guess with this picture but do you think a coldstar is going to have anything special? An extra 60 points just to get flying feels kind of steep.
