I first discovered this song when I was 13 or 14. Back then I had no bio knowledge, and basically only listened to this song for the epic harmonies. However many years later, I am now a college student learning about CRISPR in my gen ed bio class, so I came back to this song to see if I understood it any more. The result is me going wildly back and forth between understanding and being even more confused than I already was. A recreation of me watching this: "Encoding for a specific protein" - oh yeah, cuz the RNA guide's really easy to program, I bet it searches out specific sequences that make proteins, yeah this makes kind of sense "Make a few snips at this coded locus" - yeah yeah yeah i'm actually understanding this! "You work so well inside a streptococcus" - aaaaaand you lost me

I got a CAS-9 ad on this video, and I don't think I've ever been happier to see an ad before.

Mate I just wanna say that I'm no scientist at all, I'm a musician, but I don't if people realize : Not only from what I get from the comments section you seems to know you shit extremely well in many scientific fields, but you are a total vocal harmonies brainiac!!! My dear Lord that was something! :O

So you are my favorite musical scientist ever!! I work in a neuroscience lab and we've used CRISPR and actually watched mandatory videos on it. I REALLY WANT TO SHARE THIS WITH MY LAB!!! I just feel awkward sharing it with your face all over, it seems unprofessional. For most of your solo videos, I love to share them with others, but it does look weird to have your face all over the screen, to be honest. Like I said, you're about my favorite person ever on the internet and I watch your videos all the time! But I don't feel comfortable sharing it with my colleagues when the frame is a bunch of your (admittedly cute) faces. So honestly, I love your stuff so much and would really really love to share some of the informational videos you share with others, without multiple visuals of you singing (but I really love your singing!)

I came back here again and marveled at the quality of the writing of this one. Who did the arrangement on this one? It is truly amazing. That straight ahead portion at 4:47 is just awesome.

It's 1:30am I'm in front of a screen full of incomprehensible gibberish and your video's on cause, yeah, it's that time of night - video starts with an ad for CRISPR something and I just roll with it - took over a minute to realize this was the ad, not your video. Thanks for making late night logic programming a bit saner.

I worked my ass off for 4 months to assemble Cas9-RNPs in-vivo but the dear Mr. Cas9 just wouldn't perform as asked. Thank you for lightening my mood and keeping the entire lab motivated :)

I REALLY HOPE SO AND I THINK I HAVE A PRETTY GOOD SHOT AT IT!! I'm an undergrad at Cal and she taught Bio 1A last semester, so, normally, I fangirled and went to office hours regularly and still do now that I'm in the second half of the Bio series.. I asked her what bio/chem classes undergrads in her lab complete before beginning to work in her lab and I mentioned I was interested, so by the end of this semester I'll have an answer because I'll be done with both sequences. She signed my notebook and we even took a selfie!!

I forgot to mention the video editing. Amazing. So, you are basically amazing at: singing, arranging, audio editing and mixing (sounds great), video editing (wow), acting, memorizing, knowing about science, writing lyrics. You are perfection!
