When I was little, my grandmother used to make this often. She convinced me this was the exact same fish as the ones in 'five barley loaves and two small fish' the bible story. I used to eat it and think of Jesus.

Nice golden brown crispy fish with rice & dhal complements that meal together. I remember my mom making fried dry sardines these are so similar, smelt look so close to sardines Ria how did it taste? Like your style of cooking always pleasing to the eye👁😋

Good day Ria,this brought back some fond memories,i have not had fried-dry herring in a long time, ty ,now I'm going to see if i can find some in Brooklyn, in not some Carite aka (spanish mackerel) I have heard some people say they remove the fish eyes because they don't like the fish looking at them.what is your take on this?
