I am addicted to your videos! I am from Kenya, and Taro is a delicacy, especially in my community. We eat it as a breakfast snack with tea or stew it with potatoes as a main dish. Roti too, is a delicacy. We call it Chapati. We eat it as a snack or as a dish with beef stew, peas, and potatoes. I would like to visit your islands and try some of your cuisines but not flying fox lol. That one I will pass😂

Loved the brunch, what was the drink made with? Was that young coconut (jelly) in it?
@LifeOnTheRockNiueIsland Жыл бұрын
It's just coconut water mainly with fresh soft coconut flesh from those young drinking coconuts, a can of fruit salad, ice, small frozen whole mangoes, and coke to taste and for the fizz! That's what made it brown!🤙

@@LifeOnTheRockNiueIsland that’s a recipe and a half! Glad I asked. Soo good. While I have you, when making Takihi, is there an ideal type of taro to use? I’m in Auckland. I know you say to use the white ones. I once bought this white Samoan taro, frozen from a fruit shop in Massey. It was quite soft and mushy when I boiled it. Didn’t quite like it but it could be okay for Takihi?
@LifeOnTheRockNiueIsland Жыл бұрын
@PolyNZian I have never used frozen taro for it. Get the fresh ones from the stores that sells them and peel and slice thinly and layered with papaya then coconut cream.... like in our videos. We have certain types we use here but I don't think it really matters. Might be a slight difference but shouldn't be anything major.
@shanghaimuts Жыл бұрын
@@LifeOnTheRockNiueIsland oh ok. I wasn’t going to peel it while frozen. I was going to defrost it first lol. I just heard that the white taro was better for it that’s all. And then my Niuean friends say to use any here in NZ. Anyway I can’t wait to try. Thank you for your replies brother. And keep up the good work. Fakaaue lahi
