That is completely fine! there are lots of vegan devotees who dont consume ghee. you may all others options like Sunflower, olive, peanut or coconut oil

Yes if you have a small altar or a small gopal deity at your study table and you keep Him at a nice clean place on the top ledge of the study table then it should be fine
