As someone who has unfortunately played neither Halo nor SSB Brawl, I feel like Brawl's soundtrack just resonates with you so much harder. Halo has this amazing war-like theme where it gets you ready for combat and sets the feeling of tension, whereas Brawl's theme just sends goosebumps down your spine. The orchestra is so well put together for a regular video game and makes you feel present, filling you up with energy. I can see why he would choose it no matter how much he likes Halo.
