Honestly, I don't see what everybody is surprised about in the Ronaldo affair. I have to wholly disagree with Stevie's comment that he's had a near perfect career. Ronaldo was always a narcissist, and narcissists are toxic by definition. He managed to get his way because he delivered. He was hired to score goals and that's what he did. Players look up to him because of his work ethic, and that's fine. But let's be clear--Ronaldo was always about Ronaldo. He's always been very egotistic. That's what his whole marketing strategy is all about--him, his looks, his performances, his goals, his salary, his girlfriends. He did not leave Madrid on good terms, he did not leave Juve on good terms, and he is not going to leave ManU on good terms. Other players have a lot of respect for him because of his record and work ethics, and I suppose you could say that is a form of leadership, but there are other aspects to leadership where he has been sorely lacking, and one of them is taking responsibility for your own failures.
