And so on. How long one can pop out with this kind of infantile and silly "arguments"? And they were basically right: it was not the right time for crying, one should get his ass in gear especially when he's a captain and he is very, very mature as a player and a person, not in his early twenties... or at least he should be. Imagine Michael Jordan missing two important free shots near the end of the fourth quarter and starting to cry at the place... If Portugal had lost today, all eyes would have been on Ronaldo and the penalty he missed. These ''pundits'' don't understand the pressure he feels. 99% of pundits haven't even been near Ronaldo in terms of level and what people expect from them on the field. For some reason they expect top players to be emotionless machines- make a mistake, move on. But it isn't always that simple when you know the whole world is watching and expecting a lot from you. But it's no different than all the other disrespect Ronaldo's gotten since the beginning of his career. Always been like that. Doesn't matter what narrative the media wants to paint.

Every normal person has emotions, especially under the big pressure. Which sometimes can have a result such as tears. But: SOMETIMES. Why so many times, on so many different occasions, again and again he's "in tears", "crying", "weeping" or... "reduced to tears"? Why so many - a majority of them - great players at his level feeling similar pressure doesn't/didn't cry repeatedly so many times for various causes? Well, that's probably one of the reasons why so many football fans are NOT the fans - to put it mildly - of Mr Cristiano Ronaldo, undoubtfully one of the best players in the world within last 20 years... How can one be a fan of such a player even appreciating his career and skills?

As a portuguese watching this just maked me laugh. The first comentator said i don´t know what type of reaction ronaldo wanted to show when he cried, like he is not a human. He was just sad for losing the penalty and he loves portugal so much that could not contain his emotions. When you represent your country you think about your family, your friends and all the promises and dreams that you had as a child. That´s why you see every single player for each country playing to their limit. Ronaldo had a weak moment but he for sure is not a weak minded person. I am sure that he will be better next game. Missing a penalty means missing the target, hitting the post, hitting the crossbar. Saving a penalty is when a keeper stops it from going in. Of course there are poor penalty kicks that can be saved and could count as a miss, but this wasn't the case. CR7's shot was good. Oblak is one of the best Goalkeepers in the world. Funny how people forget this. All the haters/Messi fans have a short memory. Messi also couldn't convert his first penalty at the World Cup against Saudi Arabia. And it wasn't against an Oblak, Buffon, Neuer, Diogo Costa, I'll tell you that.

These critics seem to misunderstand the true essence of Portuguese camaraderie, friendship, and sacrifice. Ronaldo's tears did not weaken the team, rather, they served as a powerful war cry that rallied the team around him. His teammates carried him, not just out of compassion for a single mistake, but in recognition of his years of dedication to Portugal. When he was injured in the 2016 Euro Final and had to be subbed off, he cried as well and his team mates responded positively. The guy just wears his emotions on his sleeves. It's who he is. He probably felt emotional realising he still hadn't scored, might have missed his chance to help the team move on and it could've been his last ever Euro game if they lost. The armchair pundits just don't get it. Too robotic and you're not passionate enough. Too emotional and it's embarrassing. Take a pick.

I 100% disagree- they complain when England lacks passion they hate it when no emotion is shown or arrogance is shown - when Ronaldo shows DEDICATION & LOVE & PASSION FOR HIS ONE LOVE - FOOTBALL & we all know he hates losing - and who doesn’t hate losing ? And when Ronaldo shows emotions as he only human but he will show it more - we aren’t in his position we have no idea the pressures- but I see his tears like billions of others as a sign of strength NOT embarrassment- & HE HAS NOTHING TO BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT - he is a over achiever- these commentators prove that they with media and bbc have big issues with Ronaldo & seriously need to quit it. Ronaldo loves his football - his family his fans his team players his country and wants to show us all dreams are possible but it is tough & hard at PARTICULAR POINTS & that was one of those points. We ALL GOT TO EXPERIENCE HIS TEARS with him I cried millions of others watching did too- that’s how much he impacted all our hearts and souls as he isn’t fake he is true and genuine and sincere and drives hard. Wish these commentators get a grip of there uncalled for words, because each word was disturbing to hear. Ronaldo can’t perform miracles but he sure works hard & never gives him / he kept trying and trying and look how he got his result at the end.

He clearly puts alot of pressure on himself to score and expects it, so he couldn't contain his emotions when he failed to score and thought he'd cost his country. Look i've always been honest about my preference for Messi, but there comes a point in life where reality kicks in. For some it's sooner than for others. In Ronaldo's head, he's still 25, still capable of performing. People forget that when you are obsessed with something, and don't know any better, the second you realize you're not the same as before, it can hit you extremely hard. Ronaldo has been fighting all the slander, all the scrutiny since the beginning, and shut people up every time. Nothing he's done beyond 30 years old will affect his legacy as one of the greatest ever. You can tell he's working even harder to stay fit at 39 and tries to literally fight against aging. He's has his toxic traits, but at the end of the day, it's totally understandable why he would cry. For me it felt like he finally accepted he can't do it alone anymore. Mark my words, this could change Portugal's entire trajectory this euros. Wouldn't surprise me if he humbles himself and they win the tournament now. The only embarrassing thing here is the panel.
