Glad to find your channel. You help balance NCC out a bit. Could you explain tire choice? Do you change out tires/wheel sets for races?

I like the pirelli tires a lot, these were from my last team, I race with the pzero sl tires on Reynolds rims, just got the lun hyper wheels in and have been enjoying them a lot!

@@williamrhardinhypers are just getting better. I crashed gen one and they took it like a champ and the gen 2 are really nice. Those gen 3 hypers look great with 23mm internals. The gp5000 pair really well with hypers - super tight fit.

I had a similar setup on my old crit bike, I was very suspicious of the drop-stop B chainring compatibility with Sram's flattop chains though. Any chainring claiming to be compatible with both flat top chains and shimano 11s chains seems sus, they're so different you just can't optimize for both. The drivetrain was waaaay quieter and felt much smoother when I changed it to a 2x setup with Rotor's sram specific chainrings. It worked fine, and I loved that bike but I had a feeling I was losing a lot of drivetrain efficiency watts. Unrelated side note: I recently sold that bike, for about a third of the price I would sell if for on Craigslist, to a junior racer. I know you're tall, and juniors might not be, but I highly recommend doing that if you can afford to and you happen to find yourself with a fancy new bike and an older bike that is still perfectly good!

put a wee bit of Elmer's glue on your wonky stem cap...dry glue w/ a blow dryer!!

Also...I would be very careful with that GoPro mount for crits. They have a tendency to brake especially on rough pavements.

Nice bike! I know you got it for free but when you say "good value" it would be nice to know the street price as built.
There is a rough spreadsheet (about $5k) that's with the nicer lun wheels that will be going on it...so take off about 1k for the current alloy wheels

@@williamrhardindamn thats honestly not that cheap… the new madone has 105 di2, and everything carbon for the same price…
@ynie15 ай бұрын
@@SyLens1 well yea. Custom build bikes are always going a worse deal compared with buying a stock one. OEM pricing is insanely low. The value more comes from knowing exactly what parts you want. Compare that with buying a stock bike, then buying replacement parts, and selling the OEM parts for pennies on the dollar.

Hey man. I got sram rival on my CX bike and 105 mech on my roadbike. So i want sram on my roadbike too. My plan was to buy sram apex as a full groupset. And just put the sram apex shifters on my roadbike. To pair with the sram rival derailleurs. Altho i cannot find anything on google confirming this can work. I know u can run even sram red derailleurs with sram apex but can you also pair a front derailleur to them? If not it would be annoying having to replace my shifters :P
@williamrhardinАй бұрын
Yes! They will pair, if you have a front derailleur the only thing you need worry about is the xplr rear derailleur won't pair with a fd

It'll get the job done. 50x10 will spin you up to 47mph, but you'll never need that in a flat crit.
