When you shoot that many times you are either a terrible shot or you're committed to kill.

He didn’t need to kill her. He was in no “real” danger. He could have moved away and let her ram away. I know people will dispute my comments but he has been given permission by his chain of command to pull the trigger.

I don't dispute your comment. It made NO sense to fire that many times. I back the blue whether anyone likes it or not. For me, there are WAY more good cops than bad. The media just talks about the bad incidents or times when a black person is killed because it is sensational more often than not. Whether they were doing anything really bad or not, the black person should not be killed. It is like it is never ok to shoot a black person. Even if they were going out of their way to kill another person or a cop, and they were shot accordingly. People act as if GOD HELP the cop because the victim was black. That part of these types of stories does get old. But this, this was excessive. It just made so sense.

@@ailynevensen k9 officers leave their dogs in hot cars and kill their own partner all the time and aren't even held responsible for their own actions. Look up "cop chokes k9" there's a video of a cop lifting his dog's entire weight by it's collar. All 4 legs off the ground, all it's weight is on it's neck. Textbook animal abuse, but were there charges? No. They also send those dogs to bite and apprehend suspects which... are often armed and there's a chance the dog dies. It's a risk that's acceptable. it's not a human life, she can be charged with more stuff when finally apprehended. It's just a dog.

I understand some police are good and are on high alert when responding to incidences but I do not see the need for firing shot after shot into a vehicle. What if innocent children were inside. Perhaps taking a suspect out on a dead end street is easier and less costlier than having back up put out tire flatners to stop the car. Hard to watch. Harder to understand “why”.

@Central Texan The officer had other options that did not involve shooting. Maybe not at the situation where the gun was fired, but leading up to that. Just saying. That doesn't mean the officer was in the wrong, a vehicle is a deadly weapon, the officer defended himself with a deadly weapon, the woman wasn't complying. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes. The officers response was justified! I would have put a hundred rounds in the vehicle if that's what it had taken to stop this person. The perpetrator driving clearly intended and did use the vehicle as a weapon for the purpose of bodily harm to the officer and facilitate a means of escape. It was clear that after the officer fired the first volley the perpetrator attempted to continue to use the vehicle to batter the officer and either disable him or kill him. The officers actions were clearly an act of self defense at that point which justified the second volley of fire to stop the perpetrators continued attempt on his life. Because the perpetrator was a woman or a grandmother bares no relevance. Her actions were clearly criminal nature, the intent was also very clear that she was using vehicle as a weapon for the purpose of bodily harm or death to the officer. After the first volley fired it was also clear the perpetrator had not been disabled to a point to prevent further aggression which justifies the further use of deadly force by the officer. Although the outcome is a sad one along with her age and position in life her actions were deliberate, careless, reckless, and did not show any concern for her own safety. That being said an investigation is warranted to determine if her actions were intentional and consistent with "suicide by cop syndrome" which could possibly explain her actions.

Yours is the most elaborate response so I’ll start here. 1. 100 rounds? Sounds like you’re a terrible short or a fan of excessive force, both would be adequate to keep you from ever wearing a badge, hopefully you weren’t banking on it. 2. In this case it definitely matters, as a cop you’re trained to assess the threat level (while maintaining a professional unbias). Here you can see he did the opposite, her car was pulled up directly beside his 3:42 and he had multiple chances to see that she was an elderly woman which (unbiasedly) would lead him to assume she might have been confused or having any number of medical ailments tied to age. Instead he assumes that she is a black male (as stated in video) and reacts accordingly. And reacts is the correct word here, as he shoots an excessive amount (if you want to fact check that go back to the part of the video where shots are fired and slow it down to .25x) the car pulls forward (suggesting running AWAY rather than more confrontation or lethal action) he has a chance to see that she is an elderly lady and unarmed. Here there are multiple options available to him, he can wait for backup, try to talk her down, raise his arms as a white flag. Instead he doesn’t take a second to asses and instead acts on his original assumption (bringing into play the importance of who she was) and shoots again an excessive amount (again watch from a neutral standpoint in .25x for the play by play) and THEN assessed. Even reaching for his camera two different times as he finally realizes what’s taken place. As for the human argument I have to say this isn’t a game a football where you can make snap decisions and tackle anyone who poses a threat. This is life, this is a person who doesn’t get to see her family again. Don’t take that lightly, it’s disrespectful to the badge they wear. In the very least he deserves to be discharged from the force and issue a retraining for the team. If not a complete revamp of the department itself, who have to ask yourself who trained this guy to begin with.

Ok so obviously I need too rewatch the video because I didn’t see her hit him at the red light. I see he’s in one lane and she’s in another but go to the third lane to turnaround just too go the other way. She just might be lost cause I actually panic before because I didn’t turn and kelp straight and went across the bridge going into Arkansas. Go over that body of water and I was just 18. I had no phone I was crying but the first gas station I seen I stopped still crying and someone told me how too get back on so I can go back too Memphis. Anyway like he said he really thought that was a man like he feared for his life not knowing it was a lady that was really lost and afraid. For one you know she didn’t know where she was at because she kelp turning onto dead ends. Sometimes everybody be so quick too judge. The dead can’t tell their side of the story too actually know what was going on with them or in their head. Not taking sides but no one fired back at all so did you really have too use two mags on that lady or you really thought it was a man. I’m not saying it’s a race thing but I will say this did he think it was a black man and he feared for his life. Sometimes step back and think and analyze things and please everyone stop being judgmental and make something make sense. Stop me if I said anything wrong

Even if your lost you can see and KNOW to stop at red lights. This didn’t have anything to do with being lost. She was driving crazy. Normally I say firing into a car is wrong but she hit his car so hard it was moving and then she continued after the first hit to try and turn the car around to ram his car again. Did you want him to just keep letting her ram into him? He couldn’t or shouldn’t of ram bc the person could have a gun so what else should he have done??? Please give me some other ideas bc I can’t think of any.
