Critical Insights: Distal Limb Ischemia

In this episode, Chief Physician Assistant in Cardiac Surgery Dylan Ryan, from Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes, explains the importance of monitoring extremity perfusion. Dylan discusses the risk factors for distal limb ischemia and the limitations of traditional methods of monitoring leg perfusion. He also reviews the ForeSight sensor, a noninvasive technology that allows for the continuous monitoring of tissue oximetry (StO2). With StO2 monitoring, saturations can be assessed continuously and objectively, and the trends can be analyzed for potential interventions.
