Critical race theory says racism permeates every American institution and exists to uphold white supremacy.
Is this now taught in schools?

Many in the media say it isn’t.
But Asra Nomani used the Freedom of Information Act for force school districts to admit they’ve paid consultants millions to promote the teaching of critical race theory.
One book teaches kindergarteners about America’s “violent white supremacy."
Nomani calls it “state sponsored indoctrination.”
“Teaching the truth is not radical or wrong,” says the president of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten.
One solution to this fight is school choice. Let parents take their tax money to a school they choose.

Agreed! In my life experiences I have taken note of the same things. I work with a fellow who claims he can not be racist because he is a minority. Although he seems to be the one who passes judgement on the color of skin or what people have worked for and earned. I could write a long shot story on this guy but I've met so many others of all races that seem to act or think like him. I was taught at a very young age that we all are born, live, and die. What happens is up to us and our choices. If we choose work hard, do unto others, save not destroy, we will be rewarded with a fruitful life. So far my bills are paid, my family is fed, and my conscious is clear.

I was dating a black woman in 1985 and she took me to meet her parents. She had warmed me about her radical brother and when I got there I made the joke "Look who came to dinner". He laughed and we started to talk. However Mama told her daughter to get n the kitchen and then a shouting match started. Needless to say my g/f had not informed her parents I was white. Teachers in states with the worst track records on race - ones where people were lynched and civil rights leaders were assassinated - also give the least money to public school districts BECAUSE those schools districts receive money for racial equity. So that you understand equity a little: in the past it was common for school districts that had majority Black students and a majority eligible Black applicants to hire nearly exclusively White teachers and admin. Equity forced racist school districts to consider the Black teacher applicants. If students don't know this history, they will think the Civil Rights Act was evil and discriminated against White people, which was the whining gripe segregationists in the 1960s-1980s. Why do you think it's bad for students to learn about race?

And Akish did administer unto them the oaths which were given by them of old who also sought power, which had been handed down even from Cain, who was a murderer from the beginning. 16 And they were kept up by the power of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of wickedness and whoredoms. 17 And it was the daughter of Jared who put it into his heart to search up these things of old; and Jared put it into the heart of Akish; wherefore, Akish administered it unto his kindred and friends, leading them away by fair promises to do whatsoever thing he desired. 18 And it came to pass that they formed a secret combination, even as they of old; which combination is most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God; 19 For the Lord worketh not in secret combinations, neither doth he will that man should shed blood, but in all things hath forbidden it, from the beginning of man. 20 And now I, Moroni, do not write the manner of their oaths and combinations, for it hath been made known unto me that they are had among all people, and they are had among the Lamanites. 21 And they have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi. 22 And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed; for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them and yet he avenge them not. 23 Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain-and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be. 24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you; or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up. 25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning. 26 Wherefore, I, Moroni, am commanded to write these things that evil may be done away, and that the time may come that Satan may have no power upon the hearts of the children of men, but that they may be persuaded to do good continually, that they may come unto the fountain of all righteousness and be saved. -Excerpt is from Ether 8 in "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ". Eric S I have a friend who teaches 5th grade. She told me about a novel about a family of migrant farm workers. Every supposed "literature" lesson based on this story focuses solely on identifying "who is being oppressed and who are the oppressors in this chapter?" And the curriculum doesn't allow to teach on classic literature themes. So, in addition to being taught to see everything through the lens of oppressed and oppressor, the children are losing the opportunity to learn how to dissect a piece of literature and learn how to analyse it from all different angles, and to learn how to think deeply about the riches hidden in great writings. they are losing the preparation for more advanced classes they will have in the future. All they will know is how to identify who is oppressed and who is oppressing them.

Those include recognizing the "privilege" of "dominant cultures" and "systemic racism and white supremacy." They must also accept that gender is a spectrum. Critical Theory is very real and permeates every corner of k-12 education. My experience verifies it... I spent 2003-2008 as a graduate assistant working on my PhD in the College of Education at the University of Georgia, a top 20 public university in the country. While there, I taught courses to undergraduates who were preparing to become k-12 teachers and I personally supervised almost a hundred students in their internships at local public high schools. The professors and instructors that I worked with, including myself I am ashamed to admit, actively indoctrinated our students into all forms of critical theory. I remember having meetings with my colleagues where we talked explicitly about giving those students who resisted our indoctrination lower grades and bad job recommendations (a virtual career death sentence for a young teacher trying to find that first job). I'll never forget my main professor encouraging me by saying, "This is important work we are doing. This is our form of activism." So, even in schools and districts where there is not an explicit program of critical theory, you can bet that virtually every teacher under the age of 40 or so was indoctrinated in critical theory in their teacher education programs and were instructed to incorporate it into their pedagogy and therefore indoctrinate the next generation in the k-12 schools.

They literally call the teachers racist in the question and ask them to speculate on how they might be secretly racist. The union that is supposed to help protect the teachers has a whole page about racial inequality and how their teachers demand the right to teach about it despite it just being union leadership and a vocal minority of teachers that want that. I told her to write "I am too tough on students who are purple because of an internalized fear they might eat people and they sure look strange to me".

You should never teach a child that they are a victim even if they are. Someone with a victim mentality will always believe failure is a result of external forces that they can do nothing about and therefore give up. Life is not fair, some people will be given more, have more, have it easier, etc. A victim views that as the system and views himself as unable to succeed because others have as if everyone that succeeds causes others to fail. Someone without a victim mentality looks as failure as their own fault and thus can change themselves and learn to succeed. They view others successes as a path to follow for their own success. Even if someone is truly a victim in sociaty, teaching them they are a victim does further harm to that person.

Asians for example, are historically excluded and discriminated against throughout US history. There is even a concentration camp for Japanese Americans in WWII. They did so well that they are better educated than the whites and earn more than whites. At the same time, they are being discriminated today in many occasions. It’s plainly wrong to blame the society and the law. It’s the race itself that has to change.

I came to this country in 1963, I was 13. We went from a wee tiny island in the Shetlands, to Detroit, Michigan; year later we moved to our farm. Five years later I was in Vietnam! I went because America is FILLED with Celtic people; we were the first slaves here...I went because my country needed me. I didn't loose my Life for what is happening. And I think of all the dudes drafted. They CERTAINLY didn't plan on giving up their lives for THIS! I guess the homes of the brave, in THAT SONG, we evicted and the dark stain lies now blots out The Sun...

I understand now why homeschooling among Black Americans is rapidly on the rise, there is certainly a shift that is happening in popular thought when it comes to race relations...I have always believed that each year America is getting better and a huge part of that is simply because America is becoming more culturally diverse. Something that I feel many Black parents see as a critical part of social education but are often publically silent on the issue, a lot has changed since slavery and the history books should reflect this. Represnatation does matter and our children deserve to learn about the great American heroes of color who paved the way for their success not just trauma fuel. The biggest problem with CRT being used as a political tool now is that MInority American History as a whole is being wrapped up in this chaos under the guise of Marxist ideology....the reality is its hard to have discussions about any American history without some level of thought into what roles discrimination and inequality played in it's creation.

There's something wrong when CRT is being used to collectively blame and guilt people for past events simply because they share the same skincolor as those in power who did wrong. But that's the problem with the modern left. Not all, but far too many refuse to see people as individual human beings who are their own person. That's why the left sees and talks about people who happen to have white skin as if they were all the same person which to racially profile. You seen this on MSNBC and coming from Tiffany Cross who for 2 years was permitted to racially profile white people and to dehumanize and stereotype people who happen to be white.

As a child of the 70s and 80s I often ask people, do you think racism is better or worse now in 2023/2024 than it was 40 years ago? I look at how America was 100% in on black culture of the 80s and 90s. You had black Tv shows, black superstar musicians, black superstar actors and sports heros. you had a generation of children imitating and wanting to be black rappers and athletes. Do you really feel things are better today? Feels like we've gone backwards in race in the last 10 to 15 years

Which means they are lying. Why would the school boards lie about what is being taught to children? Is it because they know what they are teaching is wrong? I don't think so, or else they wouldn't do that. They firmly believe this is right and that they are activists. They want to brainwash children, and hide the fact they are doing it.

They are also just trying to repackage or rename it so you can't see it immediately. So it sounds good, but is basically a new twist on inserting racism and division. There's a LOT of this language play and manipulation going on. I hate to say it, but I think that the schools are now incredibly corrupted, mostly because of the unions and the overseeing agencies that are being controlled by an underlying agenda.

You have to see history through certain lenses. And unfortunately, we're only given a tiny window to look through at history. And through that window we see a multitude of different customs, cultures, thought patterns, beliefs, situations, etc. By all means it does not excuse what has happened throughout history. It's really easy for us though to dig up the dead and put them posthumously on trial and to crucify them. We should always remember though, what goes around comes around. I'm sure many of our ancestors will look back 100 years from now and posthumously eviscerate us for all that was said and done.

There has to be a way to teach history without inciting the continuation of the hatred. There has to be a way to talk about racism in a way that promotes the ending of it, not the promulgation. Any materials/teachers used to fuel hatred for self or others should be removed from k-12 classrooms. Kids should be learning how to recognize divisive messaging. That way, they will know when to “guard up” to whatever curriculum, news headline or social media narrative they face in the future. God Bless our country and it’s future.

Should probably be taught in high school for one thing, since at least people's brains have matured somewhat. Its something that happens all over the world, one group of people against another. Should also start at the origin of it and expand on its history, not just teaching the worst examples in a country. Heck, "Schindler's list" should be something shown during that as well, where a German helped out the Jewish and other people who were denigrated as a target to be oppressed before and during WW2 even started.
