To those saying this was OOC for Essek, I think he understood how much this meant to the M9. How much they NEEDED this as a group, as his friends. Throughout this journey into Aeor and Cognouza, he became a true blue member of this team. He never met Molly, but I think this meant just as much to him because of how much it meant to all of them. I don’t think Matt broke character, I think Essek truly felt enraged, cheated, and hurt by the failure of the ritual as the rest of them did.

Cadeuces is maybe my favorite flat-character. He arrived, fully formed and enlightened, if a bit green to the world, and was a sounding board of growth for the rest of the cast, before ultimately giving them what they wanted in the first place and rounding out the mighty nein once they'd finished the journey. It's insane to think Taliesan pulled this char out of his ass unprepared for molly's death and made something so integral to every character's journey through the rest of the series.

I believe the wild mother was watching both of her children here, and was so proud of them. As Cad said, he felt like it was his lifes purpose to end the affront to natural life that was Cognouza. They really both came so far, and I like to think she was rewarding their efforts here.

My theory is: jesters greater restoration changed his plans. Tal had planed on letting Molly come back slowly, but when Jester "jumpstarted" him, he wasn't given the time he needed to recover, so Kingsley formed instead. Again, that's just my theory, and I have no proof (well, except the "hints" he gives, like about wakeing up early from a hangover).
