Oh yes!!! I loved this one shot! Now that you mention it, the flasks/rest mechanic is very similar to the healing surge mechanic from DnD 4e. A set amount of health you can use during short rests or during combat to heal.

@@TheDungeonCoach yeah and IIRC they worked similar to hit dice but it's a set value (no rolling), each class had a starting surge value that scaled with CON bonus. And there were feats that added bonuses whenever you spent a surge such as one that grants combat advantage, one let's you move half speed without provoking opportunity attacks, so on and so forth.

Yes, I liked a healing item that recharges at dawn. A simple wand would do the trick, but that's not interesting or fun. So converted a Decanter of Endless Water into a Decanter of Endless Healing. It's more of a misnomer, really. While it is technically endless, it can only hold 3 healing potions worth of charges per day before converting back into a DoEW. If a PC wants to use more than 1 charge at once, they have to make a STR save or get knocked prone and possibly lose the charges they spent. Makes it a bit of a risk/reward setup. I really liked "MTG Cardmaker" when crafting items for my games.

Love to see a second part. The one shot inspired me to start setting up my own hack to hopefully play a game or few at some point. I was so interested in trying to figure out the stagger mechanic - it’s so key to souls games. Seems like it’s a modified DC based system (which I know you’re a fan of, DC!)
