@@marissamemoriSexism is the vast majority I’m sure, but it is different for a guest to come back after 78 episodes than for a cast member to come back repeatedly every few weeks. I love Ashley and never gave her any flack for doing her job, but it is different.
@JoeGrzzly
@JoeGrzzly 3 ай бұрын
@@marissamemori There is a distinct difference between Ashley's in and out, and Robbie's lengthy hard cut, (no innuendos intended, but I noticed them while writing). Ashley would be keeping up from time to time and have a good grasp of the plot, but didn't have the mechanics solid all the time from being busy and playing one of the most complex things to do, a prepared caster, which she wisely chose to miinimize to a Barbarian for C2 when she knew that she would still have numerous absences. With Robbie, he was gone much longer and his character would reasonably not know as much about the plot. He hasn't had to show too much tactical acumen either as there haven't been a lot of fights since he returned. I think you calling sexism is blatant projection.

@JoeGrzzly Unfortunately, it has also continued for Ashley in Campaign 3 with a complete lack of absences. She's still lagging after 2 straight years of playing and 7+ years of on an off play, whereas Robbie has done well to pick everything up from zero with very limited play (that we have seen). Either way, still love them both

So I've left this post alone for a month or more, mostly because I have been trying to figure out how to tell the folx who have replied: I'm not talking mechanics!!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Robbie has said repeatedly that he did not want to come back and know more than Dorian. @@Dunybrook I dunno, that's not exactly a fair to say Beau reacted to authority figures that way. I mean the second Fjord acted leader like - she was immediately supporting him and wanting his approval. With Caleb - she sees him showing weakness and then latches onto it. She has this "was a bully in high school" energy kinda? Like that person who immediately identifies the weak one. You could say she hates authority sure. But it was never shown in her group interactions. Instead first thing she did when it comes to power dynamics was to press "the quiet kid" and see everyone's reaction.

There are a lot of themes from each of the campaigns that I really like. Vox Machina's theme I think was overcoming great obstacles and letting go of your past. Mighty Nein's was trusting your friends and becoming better people. Bell's Hells I think is not giving into your dark side when many other people would, and to not let your circumstances define who you are... so far.

That bit about Delilah and Laundna speaking at the same time- I thought it was pretty powerful that the moment it stopped was when Laundna said "I love you" to Imogen. Those word were what started grounding her again and bringing her back mentally. But is it bigger than that? It's cliche, but is love and connection part of the key to separating herself from Delilah? Or at least starting to? Cool stuff :)
@TonksTheFool
@TonksTheFool 3 ай бұрын
It's interesting when you remember Delilah isn't loveless. In fact she's someone who loved TOO much. She leaned into too heavily with her vampire husband that they dreamed of ruling together and were prepared to break the world together. So while she's done some absolutely heinous things, the chilling part isn't that it's out of her not knowing love. It's BECAUSE she loves. It's the dark side to where love can take you. And Imogen and Laudna were encouraging each others dark sides EXACTLY how I think Delilah and her husband did. So it's not even a case of love conquers all cliche, because love also caused this. It's just an interesting dynamic of are they willing to become a healthy love or an obsessive, enabling love?

Gotta hop in, I'm at 20:35 and Robbie mentions the fans saying that "Cyrus was always meant to die". I have also seen this theory tossed around, but I'd like to cut the excess noise away and clarify that what people are trying to say is that Aabria planned for Cyrus to die that session. The reason it got so much attention, and potentially hate, is because the ruling Aabria made that caused Cyrus' death was a CLEAR breach of rules and the Player/DM contract. This was an objectively bad move and is rightly criticized by the community. They are NOT saying that you, Robbie, meant for Cyrus to die. Robbie, I am SO glad you are part of this group. Aabria changed a rule in the middle of a game, taking something he chose to do that was clearly written out as far as "how this works in-game" and making it work in a way that harmed his brother. He challenged the ruling because he read the spell he cast and realized that that was NOT how it was supposed to work, and she was frankly quite rude in her response. Matt's lore and expression of it is insane. The way he talked about how magic works and how divine magic doesn't have to be through a divine being and the debates about it is so cool from someone who enjoys casual world building. I know this campaign has been going on for over a decade its still insane.

Hearing Matt talk about his creations is so amazing. Can we just glue him to a chair (outside of the gaze of the Mighty Nein) and tell him to just... info dump? I could listen to that level of nerd-age for d a y s. Also picture this: An Exandria setting based BG3-esque game. i think I'd sell both my kidneys for that.

Well, if Laudna could do something like Fjord and ask for a deity to replace their patron, maybe she could offer herself to the gods, maybe the changebringer. Then she could even ask for a subclass change and change to celestial patron or something, which has the bonus of providing healing to the team.

48:30 amen to this. The first thing that wrecked me as a barely grown adult when i lost my father suddenly and unexpectedly, was almost a feeling of a timeline being cut. A potentially limitless expanse of possible moments, conversations, adventures, etc, just being completely erased before they could happen. That sensation has always stuck with me throughout the following years, especially when similar events happen and you once again feel like so much potential just got zapped away in the blink of an eye. Strong stuff.

Same for me but my mother. I was 19 and legally out of my dad's control that I could contact her. But got news from my grandpa that she was passing from cancer and I got her last 2 days. It hurts my kid with never get her hugs and insight. I didn't get any knowledge of past family, just paper and some names no stories. It hurts to lose the potential of that future.
