Such a fun 4 Sided Dive! Y'all in the comments have so many great points and thoughts as well! 1. Robbie confirming that even though he's just loving life but it's always been Orym first made my day Like, I feel like many of us knew but it's beautiful to hear it confirmed. But knowing this makes me REALLY wish Dorian had stayed for ALL of C3 :( 2. I love the way Marisha talks about Keyleth at 1:54:00 . I never understood how people get so emotionally invested in their characters until I made one that is SUPER endearing but has a semi sad backstory. The DM decided to do a one shot where I see my main campaign character with her now deceased husband and I remember messaging my friend saying ... yo, this is the day my campaign character's husband dies. And living that moment made me cry so hard. I was like ... HOW COULD I HAVE DONE THIS TO THIS BEAUTIFUL CHARACTER I CREATED?! So it was really lovely how Marisha worded the bond you can really have with some of the characters you make in DnD. 3. I'm glad they brought up Beau lying to BH like the whole time lmfao! Bc I know people were saying Marisha was misremembering Beau's thoughts on Yasha but I legit thought in those moments, "Is Beau just spouting out whatever bc she doesn't trust BH so she doesn't care what they think?" 4. I REALLY want Robbie to stay for C4! He just meshes so well with the group! And I love how 2 different characters' of Liam and Robbie have a thing going on haha!

For those who keep making comments on how they don’t like the structure of how campaign 3 is handled, Remember Matt stated that having all campaigns merge has been a dream of his since he was in high school-to have played D&D long enough with the same group that he could make a connected universe This is HIS gift to himself after giving narrative gifts to his friends over 10yrs YOU may not like it but it’s THEIR WORLD, we are just humble guests getting to see them play out what THEY want
@antiphon0009 сағат бұрын
Yeah, and that has absolutely no bearing on whether people can criticize the show. I literally do not care if God himself came down and said "Make this campaign", I can still dislike the way it's going.

"ITS THEIR SHOW" is ignoring the criticisms, that doesnt make it good.

I agree. I think people forget that they made this for themselves and that it started as a home game and that before they had this huge empire they always said that if people stoped liking it they’d just go back to the home game. Not to mention this might be the last major campaign they do dnd and even play a long term story in exandria for the near future.
@tubeplunger8 сағат бұрын
@@mackenziebourdage1924 You can take any media and apply that argument for any criticism. It's a lazy argument and ignores the whole point of the criticism.

Bad take. They wanted to do a show for people that makes a profit. They could have kept a home game with no outside opinions, but they didn't. They made it public, and built a business around it. Criticism was not only inevitable, but is warranted. I will say that I enjoy Critical Role, as a whole, even if I heavily criticize aspects of it. Criticism is not hate.

C3 was the first campaign that I watched full episodes of and before that I kept up with clips and highlights videos, so it definitely holds some sentimental value to me. @@TigerAceSullivan That's so cool! Meanwhile, I'm the exact opposite. If you tell me that a room is blue with tapestries on the wall and a fireplace, I'm fully visualizing the color blue, the thread of the tapestries, and the heat off the fireplace. If you tell me the room is 16 feet long before it turns into a corridor, I'm like, "Cool. Is that the length of, like, a pickup truck? A big rig? Give me something to visually compare it to."

there are like, different forms of aphantasia, or different experiences i should say; not everyone with aphantasia is necessarily good with words/language or innately understanding 3d spaces, and i think there are other aspects to the mind that play a role? hard to say cause theres not a whole lot of in depth research quite yet, but i know its happening
@TigerAceSullivan8 сағат бұрын
from what research i have seen, it may have something to do with how visual memories are stored and reactivated; for people who do not have aphantasia, it seems that certain parts of their brain that process the incoming information from the eyes actually activate in a very similar way when remembering an image: literally reconstructing the visual information in their mind. but that isnt the only part of the brain responsible for memory by a long shot; for some pertinent examples, language processing, spacial processing, and temporal processing are in different regions, so those "parts" of the memories formed tend to stick around better than visual information. theoretically. i could be Very wrong. just gotta wait for more research.

This is such a horrible, horrible take. The beauty of D&D is that real emotions can be explored while in a fantasy universe. The reason people liked the show in the first place was that they got emotionally invested in the story. To say what you've said completely undermines everything they've achieved to this point. Also, just because you have criticism of media doesn't mean you're incapable of having fun.

The biggest flop in the Mighty Nein fight was Caduceus's Divine ask. One round of vulnerability is WAY too small an ask for that kind of spell. You're directly asking a god for an intervention. Since it was close to the beginning of the fight, a much better ask would have been immunity to a damage type, and make that damage type psychic, for the group. Or, since it was crystals, ask for a huge AOE shatter spell. But, vulnerability for a single round was a waste of that ask.

What's odd to me is that when they're all talking at the end about their character's attitudes on the role of the gods and what they're going to do... of course the brunt of the decision will pivot on how Exandria will be affected, and more intimately how they and their loved one will be affected by their decisions, but one word I've never heard from anyone is "deicide". Once of their decisions poses a significant risk of an extinction level event for a sentient race of super-entities, and they have to consider their responsibility to that decision. Is it even theirs to make, and by what right? "The gods" are no more a threat to Exandria than every other sentient race on the planet, except perhaps in terms of scale of agency. Sure, they've talked to a few, but not all of them, and even then, you don't (or at least shouldn't) get to decide the ultimate fate of a population by committee.

ayyyyy high fives for all the folks with aphantasia, especially the ones who heard this word here for the first time - there's a lot of us! Before I know this word I tended to say I simply did not have "mind's eyes", my eyes can only see what my actual eyes are seeing. Also, similar to a lot a-something labels, for the longest time I thought it was exaggeration / metaphor / a figure of speech not based in reality whenever folks said they "saw" something their eyeballs did not see. Still think it's really weird that people can visually make up stuff :p (while obviously it's perfectly normal to not do that and just ~know~ where stuff is in imagined space)
