The bit where the narrators battle for who's "onscreen" never gets old. Bonus points for making the mirrorhawk graphics look like a cheesy educational filmstrip for kids. MAN I love this show. Also, whoever did the captions for this episode needs a bonus.

@@leitm3912 I wasnt totally on board with PhineasxSpahr earlier in the series, but I think there's been more than enough buildup for it to make sense. Phineas and Backpack is a wild take tho bro, gotta be goofin around with that.

@@kingofroses302 Backpack literally is named after her one personality-granting trait, that she carries around a huge backpack. Has she even been drawn in a scene since the first episode? I never thought about the relationship angle between Spahr and Phineas (romance with a power imbalance is gross), but WOW did they do a nice job building that here.

While I'm not a Sparr and Finneas shipper (they've always felt like a father/son relationship to me over a romantic one) that kiss was still deserved for those that were. Plus the rest of the episode was fantastic, especially the way Matt just went full in nerd when talking about the Mirrorhawks and the king. Can't wait for what's coming.

This episode had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!! It had everything: badass chase sequence, mirrorhawk infotainment usurping the narrative, (in the best way possible 😂) Lark pulling a top gun, that sci-fi/horror reference, _Spahr and Phineas...!_ Also, though not centre-stage, Hieronymous was really great throughout: '"AARGH!" he aarghs', 'worst federal bank holiday ever', and 'taking a stupid walk for his stupid mental health' all knocked me out instantly. 🤣 Mr. Loxlee, I appreciate you.

The chase sequence, the hilarious science corner bit, the absolutely heart wrenching dialogue between Phineas and Jonas layered with the beautiful art and music (also: when your day 1 ship becomes canon in the most well executed slow burn 👌🏾), and the tense rollercoaster drop of anticipation knowing it's gonna get worse before it gets better after it got a little better again... And on that matter: I did NOT imagine this relationship to unfurl like that, UNTIL i started my second listen through the entire story! The shipping became SO real, a part of me wondered whether there was something more than just mentor/apprentice relationship. But OH MY it got really heated with a daddy Spar and golden retriever Phineas confessing their true feelings to eachother! I also NEED more wild life lore of Midst, it is so fascinating within the setting! The spiderweb, the upcoming showdown on stationary hill, i'm SO hyped for the next episode!

Absolutely terrific episode! I don't know if I am on board with the Spar and Phineas-Couple though. Am I the only one who finds it kind of...problematic? Spar always seemed like more of a father figure for Phineas. Even if I am off on that one, he was his superior officer for years and years, the one deciding everything for him. Yes the trust is gone now, but that kind of dynamic must be hard to shake. For Spar to get romantic with Phineas now... that's such a power imbalance in the relationship. I hoped to the end that they wouldn`t take it there.
@TessLowe
@TessLowe 5 ай бұрын
It honestly seemed like it was going there from the beginning, but neither of them were quite able to acknowledge it. Spahr never tried to use his power to ‘get’ Phineas because he didn’t seem to know that’s why he’d been so protective of him until now, now that they’re equals. The artwork for that scene is brilliant of course - it just shouts “When you’re done beating yourself up, I am about to kiss you”.

A little late to the party, but I agree! I'd be more open to it if there was more time for the relationship to develop once the mentor/protégé element was removed. I can believe they may have wanted more time to develop it, but with the show ending this season they may have wanted to wrap up all the plot threads now.

I already wish I could experience this again like the first time. And again. And again. Just like the entirety of Midst, but even more so. Incredible. And I’m so proud to say that I HAVE BEEN SHIPPING PHINEAS AND JONAS SINCE EPISODE 3. Not once has their dynamic disappointed me. It was all there from the start, but just so deeply buried underneath the Trust system it got twisted, almost broken, and surely made unhealthy - but this scene. This scene was so good. They always sincerely cared for each other and now they’re free to live it. After their reunion in the last episode, I couldn’t ask for anything more perfect. Thank you. I have been feeling horribly in these past days, but it’s stories like this that make me feel a little more connected to humanity again.

That opening death was terrifying. Sharp (ha!) contrast to the almost familial interaction with Spahr and Phinias Creature corner, another good reminder that the narrators are three individuals. "Almost excessively rad music kicks in" I love subtitles. Lark is so badass. Where could the possible park the-ooooooh. How ironic of a place for bonding time. Nooooooo, That's basically your dad. I kind of sensed it was going that way by the art, but their dynamic up until now had always seemed parent-child. ugh. ...What do you mean you can't find anyone in Midst? They were all gathered having a big party and your agents saw them there. It couldn't have been more than a few hours before that they were confirmed to be there. Theory: Weepe gets to Midst and gets KO'd by a purse to the back of the head from Atticus' sister.

Definitely a mentor/mentee relationship, but I could never see it as a father-son one since there is only like a 5 year age difference between the two. Phineas is officially somewhere in his mid to late 20s, and Sparr is 30-ish.

@@UrzarelWhere are you pulling your numbers from, Spahr as already employed trust enforcer saved Phineas when Phineas was a child from the official lore we have, so at the very least the fascination became when one of them was absolutely an adult and the other a child. This is basically Nancy and Hartigan from Sin City.
@Urzarel
@Urzarel 5 ай бұрын
@@yavorvlaskov5404 The age numbers came from the official tumblr page from a Q and A with the creators. Though, i misremembered, and Phineas is actually early to mid 20s. So there is about a 7 years difference. Sparr was only a Junior Adscela when he saved Phineas from the Delta. That would have probably put him in his late teens, if the recruitment age is similar to ours, and Phineas around 10-12.

Not sure what to think about this episode's ship SPOILERS i mean it has been going on for a while that there was something going on. But at the beginning it didn't seem to me to have that dynamic, Spahr always seemed to be much older than Thatch (he pulled Phineas from the Delta district when he was a young man, and Pgineas was supposedly much younger than that?) It doesn't help that a lit of the times Jonas referred (along many others) Phineas as "kid" 😅 so it feels weird that a menot/apprentice situation turned to romance

Yeah, didn't Spahr pretty much adopt Phineas as a child? Getting strong Woody Allen vibes here, but maybe I misunderstood the history?

@@bigmikebeebee no as far as I remember he saved Phineas and then Phineas worked his way up to being his ad secla. I think the creators have confirmed they have less than a 10 year age gap so adopting doesn't make sense (Spahr is 30 and I think the earlier eps confirmed Phineas is like 22/23?)

Yeah, I also have conflicting feelings on it. Even if the age gap isn't that big, Spahr still seemed more like a parental figure. I personally expected Phineas and Sherman to become a thing instead, but I suppose that's equally problematic....

@@wiseathena97 hmmm Phineas is way yoo young. And with his current mentality that someone has to guide him in eberything he does and he cant do anything without Jonas....feels too much of a inbalanced dynamic 😭

This episode was nearly perfect. The sound is insanely good, the tension in the first half is crazy, the ending with going back to midst...👌 You guys know what my problem is. Phineas and Jonas shouldn't have a romanctic relationship, he's his freaking mentor. Imagine if Will (from the Rangers apprentice) had a relationship with Halt. Or heck Vin with Kelsier in Mistborne. Or Anakin with Obi Wan. And those were mostly good mentor relationships that worked pretty well. SpharXPhineas isn't a good idea.. Other then that, I absolutely love Midst, it's one of my favorite podcasts and Third Person is doing a fabulous job.
