Even with the model with has good topology you got tiny pinching at the corners how do you fix that?

For scenario 2: if you put the SubDiv. modifier on top above SimpleDeform the pinching goes away.

Is there a way to clean the pinching in the 1st scenario though?

One way is to start with high rise mesh so you can deform it as you want, if it's necessary then optimised topology and vertex count after deforming it
