Dont want to shit-talk Mirko, but I wonder how his career would look like if he wasnt so damn proud to stay in his garage, training with Bencič here, who is 0-2 in MMA, and instead swallowed the bitter pill and trained under a top coach somewhere.

Dude a smart guy like that and at that level doesn't just have one trainer.. He trained with him for workouts, doesn't mean he trained everything with him!! And at that level often there's to and fro not just a fighter trainer thing.

He never had a dedicated mma team and a coach who concentrates trully on mma - not k-1 sparring partners in the Netherlands or young Verdum who never fought in mma at that time or local boys in his garage. What are the best guys one can spar with in Zagreb? Hardly UFC-level heavyweights.

Nisu toliko ni godine ni poverde ni ostalo koliko je taj zakon prirode da "brada" oslabi posle godina treninga i udaraca u glavu. Mirko bi i danas bio sampion da ide na pobedu a ne na borbu. Ali on se zestoko bori kao i kada je bio mladji i imao zdravu bradu. Sad sa Alexom bih voleo da vidim pravu borbu, ali ako se ikada vrati u UFC ja kao fan bih voleo da vidim Mirka da se malo i on bori za suvu pobedu, cisto da dokaze da ako hoce, moze glat da spusti 90% boraca dole i uradi im arm-triangle.

I don't know how many circles they did, but if they did the same amount then Mirko's training partner seems stronger than him. But, that was way back in time. Now in 2018, Mirko looks strong as bull - like he's really enjoying strenght training and you can tell by his build. I like him better that way, surely his new power comes useful against these modern heavyweights.

maybe his partner was just a fitness/crossfit guy. In martial arts it's not very beneficial to be huge. Look at mirko in Pride, probably the smallest HW fighter but smashed everybody, he had speed, stamina and extreme strength in his punches and kicks.
