I love Baby Lasagna because he has the courage to be what he is. Original, natural, normal, special, charismatic, just like the song itself, which hides a somewhat sad story about love for its place and people, about loneliness and anxiety that accompanies him on the path he chose. I don't know why, but no song on Dora, (except maybe a little Vinko and Damir) "shook" me as much as Rim Tim Tagi Dim. My favorite this year at both Dora and ESC.

Hey guys!!! ☺I don't know who told you about angry fans reacting, but Baby Lasagna is (actually now was lol) an unknown artist in Croatia, no record labels behind him before (he wasn't even on Dora - National Selection list, but was a RESERVE, and by luck got in when another artist withdrew), so he had much less time to prepare everything for his performance and also his first live performances singing were on that stage. He's an extremely down to Earth guy, and people got to like the song and him so much that he landslided televote with 53% yesterday. It was a beautiful underdog story and that's why people grew fond of him so much. In his song, he's talking about a serious issue in Croatia that's been affecting the country in past years - the immigration of young people (mostly to Western Europe) for better opportunities/jobs in a more light-hearted way 'let's all dance one more last dance rim tim tagi dim' as a farewell before leaving his village life. The outfits are as well inspired by national folklore outfits mixed with a bit of rock/metal vibe. The Croatian broadcaster is not known to be the most efficient/good with production (AND SOUND) and there were many issues during the shows, so I'm guessing everything will be a little better in Sweden on a big stage. I knew you wouldn't like this song, of course it's not your style and we have no problem with that. Everyone has a different musical taste. 😄 Croatians are very proud of him, especially being 2nd in the odds to win, we never experienced this madness before and we support him and wish him the best on Eurovision. Cheers guys!🥳

This was the 1st time he was singing on a stage as the frontman. He can sing better but he was very nervous, self-critical and inexperienced with that type of performance. The song is waaay deeper than it seems and he is one of the most down-to-earth, intelligent, honest, humble people I have ever heard speaking on tv. This song is about people having to leave their villages, small towns and even countries because of bad economy and/or corruption in the places where they live. He was inspired to write this song when one of his friends immigrated to Germany. He doesn't leave his small town nor the region Istria where he lives because he loves it with all his heart and he feels sorry that so many people leave our beautiful country and he is sad. He depicts the emotional state of the people who leave their homes because they have to or because there is no future for them where they live. The costumes and the music follows the text of the song emotionally and visually.

I think people overlook the amount of potential and talent this guy says. He just started singing recently and the semi final and final was the first time he sang live. So he had to sing and dance with the pressure of being a favorite to win and I think he did a pretty good job. Some things need improvement but that's why there is 2 and a half months to practise before Eurovision. I have no doubt that he will improve everything

He swept the televote with way more than 50%. Can’t quite remember but he got almost 250 votes, second only had about 24. It was a landslide and he also beat last years entrants Let3. This song has got my top marks. Would be nice to have a new winner. Last was Portugal but I didn’t like that song. Rember when we got an 8 year run of new winners back in the 00s. Be nice to go to Zagreb.

The difference between the semi and final is like day and night. They had sound issues, and he did have a lot of anxiety but improved so much more for the final performance
@sarahenchanted9 ай бұрын
hello just some context about the song: So in a nutshell, it's about a man leaving his small farm town for a big city or a new country. In recent years in Croatia (and many places) because of economic issues many young people leave their hometowns for opportunities elsewhere and this song is meant to symbolize a last hurrah with the people you grew up with. A lot of people relate to this a lot (especially in Eastern Europe and the Balkans but I think anyone can no matter where they are) and that's where part of the appeal comes from. This winning isn't a long shot as long as he improves his vocals a bit and maybe tweak the staging. (I think SVT will do camera angles more justice than HRT) There are inevitably gonna be comparisons to Cha Cha Cha, but both artists are very influenced by Rammstein and I think Käärijä is opening doors for more "out there" songs to have a space in the contest and be successful.

You are not the first to compare this song with Käärijä's Chachacha. And in my opinion that is entirely justified. Both Käärijä and Baby Lasagna are big Rammstein fans, which can clearly be heard in both songs. Of course, as a German listener, I noticed this straight away, the typical Rammstein guitar riff. The Techno-C part of Baby Lasagna's song is of course also a reference to Chachacha. And both songs have a sentence that immediately catches your ear: “Cha-Cacha-Chacha-Chacha!” versus “Rim tim - tagi digi dim tim tim!” A few days ago I read: “Rim tim tagi digi dim tim tim” will be the new Chachacha, I tell you!” On the other hand, this song is independent, not a cheap copy of the Käärijä song. But it fulfills a similar need for wild musical power with a dash of humor. By the way, Käärijä wasn't a brilliant singer either, but his song had just as convincing power. In my opinion Baby Lasagna will end up in the top 3 in the ESC final.

You can see the improvement between the first round and the final. It was reportedly his first live performance. I recommend watching the video clip. It's very nicely done and captures the meaning of the song. About ChaChaCha. Both artists are influenced by Rammstein (they are fans). So maybe a little hint in the music is similar. The lyrics, overall style of music and performance is different. The only similarity I've seen is the max pink and green color. That's my personal view. Great reaction. MŇAU🐱

The title of the song 'Rim tim tagi dim' doesn't have a specific meaning, it just fits the rhythm of the song. When the song leads us through the current poor demographic situation in Croatia - with many young people emigrating from the country in search of a better financial life to be able to help their parents because the prices and all other burdens in the country are too high - this isn't living, it's merely surviving. Let's leave aside the summer season; it lasts only 3 months. What about the rest of the year? This song composed by our representative Marko, with the lyrics he wrote, is the whole truth about Croatia. 🇭🇷❤️ "I love my country like everyone else, but unfortunately, one is forced to leave everything behind in order to find a better life for themselves and their family. He could have got inspired by Kaarija BUT its still pretty damn unique. Every song is an inspiration of another song, they gotta get some of their concepts and elements from somewhere, especially in a world where originality is running out. I can definitely relate to the lyrics. My parents migrated to Australia back in the 80s for better work and set up a future for generations to come. They were only in their early 20s. This hits home HARD and is the Eurovision I have been craving for over 30 years.

1. 5 minutes for intro? really? this is way to much haha... 2. Kaarija didn´t try to be funny, more like mocking things that we see for every eurovision (like stupid sounds, and golden sparkles) and i think he do it great with his intentions. 3. - I appriciate your personal comment, it is also not my type of song, but your comments were really mediocre and bad....in the end i just lost 15 minutes of my life

its catchy the melody is nice, he cant sing... and the staging isnt really elevated. but the message and topic is interesting..... the betting odds are hypped by the croatians abroad.... so not really plausible... .. so probably it ll be a televoter.. it will qualify.... and end round 15 -10 ... but we dont expect points from the jury

It's a quirky, catchy and unpretentious take on a serious topic very relevant for Croatia, but relatable to many people. Baby Lasagna's story is also amazing - "this was a reserve song that was not supposed to compete, he got on stage by accident because another contestant dropped out so he had only 1 month to shoot a music video and prepare for his act. This was the first time he actually performed on stage in front of a camera (he was a guitar player and wrote music for other artists) and he admitted that he was extremely anxious about it. He had 50 spotify listens before Eurovision hype, and was not assigned by any music company. He wrote lyrics and music, produced and made this song all by himself in his bedroom and then went on to win Croatian competition by a landslide, he got 53% of total public votes." His girlfriend directed his music video (which is amazing!), and his brother and friends were on stage with him. He's also really down-to-earth, humble and kind. His close friend suggested him to submit the song to Croatia's competition for Eurovision and all this is happening now!

wow! usually i love your reactions, because you were hilariously witty, you dont take yourself so serious, you never were nasty to the contestans - but this reaction was super mean. constantly comparing this song with things that have nothing to do with each other. its OK to NOT like the song - but to be overly mean on a social network platform - its not very, lets say, imaginative. despite it: greetings from vienna

Baby admitted that he was nervous and that this was the first big performance for him. I was waiting for this reaction, I'm a little disappointed with how many negatives there are, ignorance. Unnecessary comparisons with the Finnish song because all metal, punk music is similar, he added an electronic vibe just so it wouldn't be boring. Considering that Baby lasagna wrote and composed the song himself and that he had very little time to prepare because he came in as a substitute...and for the music video (btw the music video is great)...this is a masterpiece.

I kinda get why people like this so much, but also why you don't. I like it for some reason, and so far it just sneaks into my 10th place, but we still need a lot of entries to be revealed, so a lot can change until May.

I had a little trouble hearing the lyrics clearly the first time too, but I got enough to recognize the gist of the story. I actually like it quite a bit better than Cha Cha Cha, which I probably was more like you guys here, like, "I see why people like it, but it's not for me." This story is extremely familiar to me (versions of it have been wrapped up as part of American cultural mythology since forever), and the sound was surprisingly familiar to me too. I could've easily seen this song coming out of the rural U.S. (probably without the techno dance break, though 😅).

I honestly don't like this kind of music, but I imagine the people who were angry about Germany and Finland not doing better last year will be voting for this hard. But just not for me.

I agree with you completely. I think the song is fine... but that's it. Though it makes sense for you since you've mentioned not liking Käärijä either. I, however, did like him but I'm not really fond on this one (and no I'm not one of those people accusing Baby Lasagna of copying Käärijä). I also agree with the dancer being hot... so if like anyone dropped his name I'd be grateful XD

what I like about your reactions is that you are honest and if you don't like a song you have no problem saying so for fear of losing followers, if I follow the reactions it is to know if the opinions of others are similar to mine... I don't interesting to see people who are equally enthusiastic about every single song! however in this case I absolutely agree with you... he can't sing!

At the end it all depends of what is your kind of music and what do you want to hear at Eurovision. There is no right or wrong. In my opinion this kind of entry doesn't surprises me anymore. It's just another song with a mix of everything and where vocals comes at last place.

Guys, your reactions are really becoming really silly. You only descussing outfil, haircut, etc. Maybe you need at least try to hear lyrics of English songs, you are not thinking at all.
@ToyAndGoy9 ай бұрын
To be honest , we couldn’t understand much of his singing but people now explained the meaning and it’s a nice one… with music it’s either you feel it or not , the feeling I (Toy) had by the end of it was none as I said in the reaction. When edited it , still didn’t feel it but I think it will do very well in the competition and I’m excited for Croatia Eurovision fans that for many years they have a song that can actually win!

It's a song about young people leaving there home and country for better life. It is a reality for croatian people today. You even didn't try to understand the words. These sleeves are part of traditional croatian folk wordrobe from Istria. Marko is from Istria, from City of Umag. Maybe he doesn't have nicest voice like French representative but this is not just another song about love, but about very realistic life situation in Croatia today. So, I really don't like you reaction. Meow meow meow
