This is so pretty! 😭 The sizing listed doesn't go up anywhere NEAR high enough for my bust measurement, so I'll just have to live vicariously through you bc I'm still a little too green to be comfortable adjusting things outside what's available in the pattern already. Get it, bestie!

Excellent review, especially as you crochet it and take note as you go. As a PAID pattern, this is really bad that this pattern seems NEVER been crocheted by testers BEFORE the person sells it. From a free pattern, its not better, but at least you didn't pay for it!!! Are you gonna send the designer yours recommandations? If yess I really hope the designer take it in a positive and constructive way. And if the designer is actually gonna répond to you and thank you...GOOD JOB!!!

I made the Fairy Coat from the same person, it wasn't well written. I'm an experienced stitcher and designer and had to make so many adjustments I was pretty irritated at the amount of money I spent on the pattern. When I tried to message her she was not helpful at all and basically I was told to figure it out. I did and my daughter in law has a gorgeous piece but it was frustrating. I bought the combo with the dress, shirt and coat all together so I won't purchase anything else from her, especially hearing you are having issues with the dress too.

I literally got to the point where the straps were done and stopped. I’m restarting with a different yarn for another reason, but I agree with all of your pattern comments to this point. I am positive I completely ignored the whole back section and made up my own way to attach and make those squares work. I love the dress, but the pattern was a little rough. I even redownloaded it at least once thinking there was an issue and I was missing pictures unintentionally.

@Madebysg11 ай бұрын
Sounds like no one tested the pattern, lol. It's got 5 stars on etsy tho? Strange!! I HATE struggling through a pattern.. especially as I consider myself advanced. ALSO oh my god YES I hate people who review it but haven't made it...
@duckynoodles356011 ай бұрын
It seems like the pattern was never tested,or was potentially made without plus sized or “busty” people in mind,which is kinda crappy,I’m gonna try and be optimistic and assume the person who made this paid pattern just assumed it could be a one size fits all type of dress. Your review on the pattern was very well done,I want to get into crocheting clothes soon so I’m probably gonna avoid this pattern if I see it,maybe the creator of the pattern will eventually update it to be cleaner and easier to understand

You're not crazy. I bought the skirt pattern she has out and it has the same typos in it...took me forever to decipher parts of it and I've been crocheting for decades! Very curious, I just got this pattern and was going to use a 2 weight yarn instead of the 1 it calls for, and you say you used a 3? Did you change which hook sizes you used to compensate for the yarn weight difference at all? Lowkey a little intimidated by this project, I'd call myself an intermediate skilled hooker, but your review is giving me pause on trying to work up my fancy yarn, lol.

❤ Your work turned out beautiful! I totally agree that if you're gonna pay good money for a pattern, the pattern must be well written, and stitch counts included! I'm glad you stuck with it and glad l watched all the way thru. Great job with your dress and the video. Btw... what hook sizes did you end up using for each section?
@SAT2SAP8 ай бұрын
I appreciate you crocheting that dress, but it looks like it could’ve used more of the skirt because you wanted it to be calf length. When you’re standing up straight it comes to your knees, not even below your knees. If I wanted to make this dress for one of my grandchildren I think I would have to keep trying it on her as I worked so watching you work on it helps a lot. Thank you.

Here's a tip to know whether youre working in rounds (circle) or rows (back and forth) , if a pattern says round it means crochet in a circle continuously without turning, if a pattern says row that means crochet back and forth turning your work at the end of each row. Some patterns definitely have these mixed up for sure!! The way you described this pattern it was definitely designed for someone who is NOT a beginner AT ALL.. maybe intermediate but more towards advanced, obviously!! I think that's why some things were not specified in ways you may have wanted.
@NiecyEnMediasRes9 ай бұрын
Maybe the designer should have specified that it was NOT beginner friendly and definitely should have stated the types of stitches you should know in order to make the pattern maybe in the pattern description (before purchase basically as part of the product view)!!

How exactly do you steam something? And what is steaming?
@kellebelle11 ай бұрын
You can use either a handheld garment steamer, the steam setting on your iron and just wave it over your finished item, or if you don't have either you can hang the garment on a hanger in your shower and turn on the hot water, close the door, and use the steam that builds up that way. Also works if you're travelling and don't have access to an iron.

so as far as being confused as to which hook you should be using there's supposed to be a section where you make a gauge swatch that tells you "with size blah hook you get x number of stiches over x number of rows for 4 inches" or something similar (if that makes sense) that way if you change yarn like you did you can pick a hook to get a similar sort of gauge or you can crochet a 4 inch square and understand how your hook and yarn will compare to the pattern. if that was confusing there's videos about gauge on youtube that explain it so much better. It seems this pattern assumes you understand a lot about crochet already.
