Hello Crochet buddies!
We're jumping back into motifs this week. I'll be showing you how I crochet solid hexagon motifs from an initial circle shape. This is great for creating modular projects like blankets and afghans or anything else you can think of;)

This was by far the clearest and most easy to follow hexagon pattern tutorial I found on my quest to make a honeycomb shaped coaster for a gift idea I had. Much appreciated and thank you!

The tip about alternating the increase is excellent. Thank you very much! Now, I have a question: can you do the opposite of this pattern, that is, start with a hexagon and then turn it into a circle?

I have stitched round 5 six times and I keep getting 7 corners! I count and recount over and over again. I have 48 stitches in round 4 for sure. 8 complete stitches between my corners. What am I doing so wrong? 😔

The Stitch Sessions - Crochet & Conversation I still have hooks from when I learned how to crochet. I only recently stopped using my 50+ year old 5 mm hook cause I had to switch to a more ergonomic one.

Love this video. I am creating a pattern using circles and playing with hexagons. Any suggestions on joining circles? If I use the hexagon am I joining the corner stitches?
@TheStitchSessions
@TheStitchSessions 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary! Joining at the corners to start is a good way to line up your motifs evenly. When you say circles, do you mean simple circles or circles that have been squared off? Usually there is some type of "squaring off" border to join motifs together.

@@TheStitchSessions I have a circle of 72 stitches, and I made a corner in every 12th stitch to make hexagons. Now when I join them the corner (dc,chain 2,dc) I'm wondering if I should just do a single crochet join in that chain 2 space or how to join at the corner?
@TheStitchSessions
@TheStitchSessions 3 жыл бұрын
@@maryellis6762 I created all my hexagons first and then once I laid them out in the fashion I was happy with, I whip stitched them together. Try and have a look at this blanket tutorial here on how I did mine. Maybe it might give you an idea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ7NXqmmhaqdsKc

The 3rd round should not be 36 because 2nd round has 24 dc, 3rd round should be 48 sc since every stitch will have 2 sc. is my understanding correct?
@TheStitchSessions
@TheStitchSessions 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rita! In round 3 we are increasing in every OTHER stitch instead of every stitch. That is why you will have 36 stitches at the end of round 3 and not 48 stitches. So you would place two sc into one stitch but in the next st you would place only one sc. Then in the next st you would place two sc etc. So you would alternate your increases 2-1-2-1-2-1 etc. Hope that makes sense?

What do I do if I want the hexagon to be bigger?
@TheStitchSessions
@TheStitchSessions 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you would like your hexagon to be bigger you would continue repeating the last round as the increase in each corner will naturally expand your shape to a larger size. Hope that helps:)
