Always happy to see one of your videos pop up in my feed.. I was thinking the same thing about the chest. get some fine sandpaper wrap it around a sponge and a light sanding should do you... ALSO in the pet department you might find big bags of cedar shavings they are used for animal bedding usually for rabbits. get that and fill old nylon hose or mesh bags "found at dollar store" and set them in your closets and yarn bags.

I also have a Lane hope chest. My mother bought it in 1964 when my parents were married. It has been closed up for years and years now. When I opened it, wow wee was the smell of cedar strong! Though I like the smell of it, it was a bit too much for my nose to handle. I took everything out of the chest and dumped quite a bit of baking soda in there and closed it. It did help to knock down the cedar smell. I vacuumed the soda out after a few weeks. But, the guy at Walmart was right. Get some good sand paper of a fairly tough grit and go to town on the inside. It helps if you have a small orbital sander. If you don't have one, you can buy one for around 40 bucks. Work your way down to finer and finer grits of sand paper. Vacuum up the dust. If you want cedar wood chips/shavings, go to the pet department and you can often get a bag of cedar bed shavings. You can also put a bunch of baking soda in there, or, if you can find it, get either kitty litter with activated charcoal, or go the aquarium area and get a box of activated charcoal there. Sprinkle any of these in the chest and leave it there for at least a week or so. Remove whatever you put in it. If the mothball smell is still strong, add some more for another week or so. Do any of these methods after you've sanded the chest if it still smells of moth balls. It's good to see you back on KZbin. You've been a busy busy gal! :-)

Nice projects, especially the bears! I luv your idea for decorating a mailbox. Walmart sells large bags of fragrant cedar shavings in the pets dept.. I wonder if you put the shavings in the chest, if this would rid it of the moth ball fragrance. Maybe, fill pillowcases, or those $1 mesh laundry bags with the shavings for ez removal too.

Hi Beth! Excited to see a new video from you. You said that you ship the mother bears several at a time to fill the flat rate shipping box. Do you have to include the $4 for each bear that you put in the box? For example, $40 for a box of 10 bears.
@Bethintx1
@Bethintx1 8 жыл бұрын
It is $3 each. I include a check. You can email Amy (addy is on the website) if you can't afford it. Another option is to get a sponsor.

I'm having such a hard time teaching myself. I cannot seem to end my rows evenly. So frustrating as I so enjoy crochet. Any tips? Wish I could sit with someone for a while.
@Bethintx1
@Bethintx1 8 жыл бұрын
If you work row by row, with single crochet the edges should be fairly even. Don't forget to chain 1 at the beginning of each row. ...and count your stitches! For double crochet, if you count your turning chain as the first dc, and skip the first stitch, be sure to double crochet in the top of the turning chain. that should even it out. again be sure to count your stitches if it looks wonky.

Hello Beth, I've recently come across a plastic crochet hook by Boye, it is standard length. It says: "BOYE" J SAME AS SIZE 9 USA The finger indent is closer to the throat than normal, it also has a flat throat similar to the Susan Bates hooks, but it is tapered and gets very narrow going up to the tip of the hook, the two outer sides are flat. I don't know if I can or not but I am going to upload a picture, I'd like help identifying this hook, I would like to buy a set of different sizes if possible. For some crazy reason when I tried it out, my tension was better lol. I thought that it may have been a modified hook that someone made, but the glossy finish is consistent on the hook. Any help is greatly appreciated. 😊

do you ever do any clothes for plus sizes?
@Bethintx1
@Bethintx1 8 жыл бұрын
I as a general rule do not do videos for clothing. Even within the plus range people are too many shapes and sizes! I already get questions about the afghan patterns on how to make them different sizes. It would be more difficult for clothing!
