you can try to find the circumference of the wearer's head, divide it by 3.1416 and the answer should be the size of when you'll stop adding increases. Hope this helps!

Yes absolutely. Same technique but start with 9 cluster sts to start out with. Then do 2 clusters in each sts for row 2, R 3: (2cluster sts in first st, 1 cluster in next) repeat around R4:(2cluster sts in first st, 1 cluster sts in next 2 sts) R5-9: 1 cluster sts around and for the add-ons just simply go to a 4mm hook to proportion onto the hat nicely.

Hey, this will probably fit a 4 year old especially if they have a somewhat smaller head. Or you follow the same technique instead start with 11 cluster stitches in the magic circle. Then you have your 2 cluster sts for a round, then (2 cluster sts in 1st, cluster sts in next) for a row, then 1 cluster sts around for a total of 11 rows and then the same as this video for the ear flaps and ears. Oops forgot one row after the 2 cluster sts, 1 cluster sts in next. The following row will be (2 cluster sts in first sts, 1 cluster sts for the next 2 sts), then you will go to the 1 cluster sts for a total of 11 rows.
