Hello I really like this design and I'm really glad I found it, thank you ❤️ I'm hoping to make this as a birthday gift for my friend. @zainaba19012 жыл бұрын
Please, can you let me know how to make two rows for the spine/base? Thank you
@savannahfletcher2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm so glad you like the design! 9 chains to start off would be perfect! I would probably do 8 HDC then: 4 in one color, 4 in your other color. Then just repeat that row for as tall as your book spine is (changing colors as necessary). I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any other questions! 💖

Once you finish a round/row do you slip stitch and chain 1 to start the next layer of HDC everytime ? Bc i havent been doing that 😭
@rylayay Жыл бұрын
whenever im working in rounds i usually slip stitch+ch1 and start the next one but it really depends on the pattern. idk if slip stitching and chaining 1 has an effect on the final look of the project but as long as it looks right and yk where your round starts/ends, i dont rlly think it matters imo 🤷♀️
@pineapples3235 Жыл бұрын
@@rylayay does it create that edge effect for the spine ?? Bc i notice mines is a bit rounded
@rylayay Жыл бұрын
@@pineapples3235 idk for sure if doing a slst at the end of a round effects the edge (bc i didnt slst lol) but since we're working in rounds, *i think* this project will always have a slightly rounded edge even if you slip stitch and chain 1. 🙈
@pineapples3235 Жыл бұрын

Hi! its a bit late but, do you know why the stitches slant iver time? The checkered look falls to the side, which is beautiful btw, but how do i make the stitches align? So that its straight?
@syddlinden89664 ай бұрын
As long as your stitches are stacked and your now gaining sts at all, it's just a crochet thing with geometric patterns like this. It's normal for crochet to kind of spiral up, but won't be noticed in a solid color. To fix it, you can put the cover on your book and kind of stretch the squares into shape.
@syddlinden89664 ай бұрын
*NOT gaining sts Sorry for the typo
@Sum2um4 ай бұрын
@@syddlinden8966 I found a way! But you need to use double crochets, and each square is 4*2 instead of 4*3. Does that make sense?? It's only 2 rows high because dc are higher, but the pattern is basically the same. This way it doesn't slant! Thank you btw
@teruro10 ай бұрын
Hello question here, can I do more than 5 chains at the beginning? Because the chain I'm going for is based on my book thickness. If so, then is the row still 3 or I need to add more according to my book?
@syddlinden89664 ай бұрын
Yes, if you wanna keep it as squares vs rectangles you would need more rows. So with hdc, you wanna chain one more than the number of sts you want, then you want your tried in each color to be one less than the number of sts across. I hope that makes sense. Example: If book is 10ch wide, ch11, hdc 10 sts for 9 rows. 🙂
