If I wanted to do this in a single stitch would it be 14 plus 2 or 3? I tried a double stitch for a baby blanket with thick fluffy yarn and I'm just not liking how it turned out. I think a sc would be better.

Thank you for this tutorial! My mom tried to teach me to crochet when I was young. So I had the very basic knowledge. When she passed away 7 years ago, I was the only one who had learned to crochet. When my miracle of a son was born 3 years ago, I realized he would be the only child born without a blanket made by my mom. This spring I saw a chevron crochet afgan at the local thrift store and it inspired me to attempt to make one for myself. I have never crocheted anything bigger than a scarf and they weren't very good. I crocheted for about 5 weeks and hung up my needle because it got too hot to have a heavy blanket on my lap. I picked it back up 3 days ago and finished my king sized chevron quilt. I love it so much! It was fun and easy thanks to you. Now my little sister is pregnant with her first child and this baby too will not have a quilt made by my mom, but they will have a quilt! Just made by me instead. Thank you so much for helpinge pass ony moms tradition!

I am the same way! My grandma taught me to crochet when I was a kid, like 4 years old. She probably only did it to keep me sitting still, cut she'd always have me crochet coffee coasters. After she passed away, I was the only one she had taught, out of 26 grandkids!! As I got older I had forgotten how, but recently picked it up in her memory. I already made my best friend a mermaid tail blanket, so next is one of these for my boyfriend. And this video is super easy to follow and I cant wait to get started!

I love your story. I was hopeless at knitting as a girl, didn't have the patience. Never learnt crochet, but got interested in my fifties when I found a book in a charity shop. Taught myself the basics, but every time I tried something new I'd have to start all over again. I have loads of little 'practice' pieces. Then in my sixties I discovered You Tube and have now almost finished a red shawl for myself. Not sure I could tackle a big chevron rug, but I like the idea of it.

Jayda, you are a terrific teacher! My grandson EJ was born with HLHS, which is Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome. The left side of his heart didn't grow in utero. My daughter June, enlisted me to crochet baby blankets for other moms and babies that are born with heart problems. So far we have donated close to 20 blankets. Now that I know how easy this stitch is to do, and also works up so quickly, I'll be making many more blankets to be given to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, aka C.H.O.P.. Thank you very much for being the caring teacher you are.

I watched another lady, on KZbin. She was demonstrating on how to do the chevron blanket. She explained the dc3tog (3 double crochets together), but she didn't explained it step by step on how to do (the) stitch(es). I have been crocheting for several years. When I watched your videos, I feel that you're explaining thing(s) w/out being condescending. Thank you.

Jayda! I love the way you teach from the moment you begin. You tell the size hook for the size project and explain the "why". I always recommend your channel. I have learned to make the purple dishcloth and from that I expanded into a few double strand bath mats. Recently I made the baby lace fan stitch baby blanket in traditional stash busting pastels. Each of my adult children like the large Santa pillow. I have made ghosties and candy corn! Thank you so much! Jayda… It’s me…Gramma Sandy…again.. I hope you see this. Your oh so easy Chevron Blanket has become a true staple for me. I have used this pattern over and over… it’s addictive. I’ve looked at plenty of other similar patterns…but always come back to this one.. I thunk I could crochet it in my sleep. My current Chevron blanket is so special…My grandson…Daniel…is just beginning his freshman year at Wright State University…and I am crocheting him a blanket in his school colors of green and gold…with white deluding each color. Your yarni is I Love this Yarn… The hook is a Tulip J-10. Thank you…again…for sharing this pattern… I will never get tired of it…Never.

crystal morrison Hi Crystal! There are, in fact, many versions of the Chevron and I have found this version to be the easiest and most 'solid' looking. I really love working this pattern, it's easy and fun and because it's double crochet, it works up SO fast...great stash buster if you don't want to plan the colours, and just stunning if you do it in really contrasting colours :)

Ms. Jayda. I tried your chevron stitch afghan. My mom taught me a simular stitch years ago, but I forgot just how to do it. Anywho... it turned out so great that I decided to make blankets for all my grandchildren for Christmas. 14 grandchildren. I'm doing 130 stitches across and am calling them lapwraps. Small enough to drag thru the house, but big enough to snuggle up and watch t.v. You, my dear, have created a monster! I'm currently on blanket 17 and not seeing any end to my madness. I love this! Making them brings me so much peace. Thank you for teaching me. On to the next! Big loves

My problem with crocheting is tension in keeping whatever I stitch even, which is why I have decided to make this Afghan hoping I can make it look even. You are so patient in doing these tutorials! You are a wonderful teacher,
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sofia! Tension is something that evens out over time, so don't stress it too much :) Even in the same blanket project you might see your tension change from tight to looser, or loose to tighter - this has a lot to do with your comfort with the pattern (it often evens out as you work more of the blanket pattern) and tension can be affected by your physical comfort levels too! Are you cold, warm, tense, happy, irritated? Sometimes it helps to have a little "nothing" project nearby that you can work a few stitches on to warm up before you head to your real project :)
